Kiara readied herself. Whatever that thing was, it obviously knew that she and Vah were on to him, and he would either attack them or turn and run away. But again a sound came from the foliage, and it sounded like the thing was about to come out. Kiara couldn't deny the fact that she wa afraid, but she stood her ground. She immediatly dropped the defensive stance when a small figure emerged from between two of the bushes. It was a cub, a male, from what she could tell. He had pale fur like her mother's and even blue eyes like hers. The cub seemed to be rather scared, and many questions about him began to fly through Kiara's mind

Vah instantly stood down and sheathed his claws as he saw a small, helpless cub emerge from the bushes. Guilt began to flow through his body almost straight away. He had just shouted at a poor, defenseless cub, who was probably lost and hungry, not to mention frightened after what Vah had just done. "I-I just shouted at a cub..." he whispered to himself, as if he didn't know why he did it, although the reason was because he didn't know what was behind those bushes. "I'm sorry..." he said quietly to the cub, although he didn't expect an answer back. There was so much going on in hid mind right now, that he couldn't pinpoint just one of those thoughts.

Kiara was still quite stunned at the fact that it was just a cub, and also began to feel slightly guilty for her recent behaviour. She took a slow step towards the cub, "Hey little guy, don't..." She started to talk gently and soothingly, but was cut short by the cub who quickly jumped back to behind the bushes, obviously afraid from the two adult strangers

Vah sighed and hung his head. He should've known that if there was something behind that bush, it wasn't going to be something big, like a fully grown lion or something. He decided that he would let Kiara handle this for now, as she was probably the better candidate for dealing with cubs. She was a lioness after all, and they were always more caring. "Kiara, I'll let you handle this." he whispered in a barely audible tone.

Kiara nodded slowly at Vah, before approaching the bushes with caution and finding the pale furred cub cuddled up on the floor. The cub's eyes widened and he began shaking when he noticed Kiara, and that only made her even more careful as she lowered her body so that she wasn't higher than the cub. "It's okay..." she said soothingly, though it didn't seem to have any affect on calming the frightened cub down. She had to let him know that she meant no harm to him, and so reached the cub and gently grabbed him with her paw. The cub began to struggle, but she just couldn't come up with any other way of showing she wasn't dangerous. "Aren't you the cutest little thing in the world?" she asked with the most cheerful tone she could gather, even though she had to admit that he really was cute. She went back over to Vah, and the cub was even more scared when he saw him again, but she insisted on letting him know that he could count on both of them. She slowly put the cub down, who stood still for a second, before running over and hiding behind Kiara

Vah watched intently as Kiara carefully walked over to the bushes, where the cub was. He sincerely hoped that she would be able to calm the cub down, even if was just a little bit, as he didn't particularly want the cub to be really afraid of him. He sighed and shook his head. The cub was always going to be afraid of Vah, even if Kiara did manage to calm the little guy down. He began listening to Kiara attempting to gain the cubs trust, but it never really was going to be that easy, as, from what he could tell, trying to calm the cub down had not really worked as planned. It was just a few seconds later when Kiara surprised Vah by bringing the cub out and placing him in front of her, facing Vah. However, just as any scared cub would do, he ran all the way behind Kiara. Vah smiled at this and looked up at Kiara "It looks like he's taken a liking to you already."

Kiara smiled slightly at Vah, but she then looked around at the cub, who turned his gaze up to her when she looked at him. "Where's your parents little guy?" she asked, only to receieve no answer from the cub who kept staring up at her. She then understoodthat whatever happend to him and / or his parents was probably really harsh for him. "Don't be afraid, we wont harm you, both of us." she said, before the cub slowly peeked from behind her and looked at Vah

Vah watched the small cub and Kiara talking, well, more like, he watched Kiara talking to the cub, as he wasn't really talking at all. Vah just shrugged and decided it was probably because he was very frightened and shocked that a fully grown lion and lioness had just found him. As the cub slowly poked his head around the side of Kiara, Vah gave him a comforting smile, really wanting him to begin to trust him. "Yeah, it's fine, we won't hurt you, there's nothing to worry about." he told the cub softly, so he didn't frighten him again.

The cub slowly walked out from his hiding place, after hearing both of these adults saying that they meant him no harm, he didn't feel like they were lying.

Kiara again bent over to the cub and smiled at him, even though what she was going to ask would probably be hard for the cub to answer, "Where's your momma little guy?" she asked, again smiling at how cute this cub was. She never saw a cub besides Kovu, but she was also a cub back then. Now she understood why her mother and father enjoyed spending so much time with her. But the cub only seemed sadder when she askd the question

Vah sat down on his haunches and watched as Kiara started to talk to the cub again. This time, she asked him where his parents were, or rather, just his mother. Vah noticed that when Kiara asked about that, though, the cub looked to get a lot sadder than he previously was. Vah raised his head and looked at Kiara to tell her that maybe talking about that wasn't the best thing to do. "Hey, Kiara, maybe it's best that we don't talk about his parents right now. Maybe when he's more settled in." he told her, glancing back down at the cub.
