What had occurred was a rapid succession of events that culminated in Scar's rather violent ridding of both the hyenas and of Zazu. While she had opened her mouth in protest at Zazu's expulsion at first, this was eventually pushed into the back of her mind by Scar's obvious discovering of her son. She was angry for a brief moment with Ushujaa for coming out of his hiding place when she had specifically told him to stay hidden, but then was not the time to dwell on such trivial matters. Her son had been discovered, and this could not possibly mean good things for Sarabi or for Ushujaa.

Taking a step forward as Ushujaa cowered behind her, Sarabi looked boldly into the eyes of the King. "Your Majesty," she said, her words biting, "this is my son, Ushujaa. Clearly you have been far too busy ruining the Pride Lands to notice his birth."

Sarabi looked down once at her frightened son, thinking of his safety, before continuing, "As far as I am aware, there is no decree against cubs residing in the Pride Lands, so unless there is something more you need him for, I ask that you tell your 'loyal subjects' to stay as far away from him as possible. He is harming nothing."

She kept her gaze fixed on Scar, unwavering in her stare. It was true; she had hidden Ushujaa for a long time in fear of this moment. Now that it had finally come about, she was rather frightened as to what Scar's reaction might be. But she would never, ever show him that.

[Mike]

"You would do well to address me with a bit more respect." Scar growled, not entirely pleased with Sarabi's tone. "Your son has already caused quite the commotion today. I do hope I won't have to deal with any further incidents like this one." Holding Sarabi's defiant gaze for a moment, Scar tried to look beyond the brave front and determine how much of a threat the proud former queen might be. Not arriving at any immediate conclusions, Scar broke eye contact and spoke, staring absent-mindedly at one paw. "Of course it's a shame that the Throne passed on to me before this little brat's time. Otherwise he may have been fit to carry on Mufasa's most noble royal line. As it stands now of course," Scar continued, his eyes back on Sarabi's face and his gaze burning into her eyes. "that would be impossible. Do you not agree?"

[Ushujaa]

Ushujaa was aggravated with the remark, he was still scared to say anything... but he would not take it lying down, Hey, i'm no brat... He still pondered the situation, he thought to himself What did Scar mean by carry on Mufasa's royal line... Ushujaa knew little of his heritage although he knew of the Great King Mufasa,Ushujaa's mother often told him stories, but he never thought that he could be related to the legendary Mufasa... Just thinking of it filled him with courage, but with courage sometimes comes stupidity If what you say is true, then you should step down... From the stories I've heard about how the great king mufasa led these lands through prosperity and respect... Mufasa was a much better king then you were! You're doing nothing but leading these lands into destruction Ushujaa Stopped short, little to late did he realize that he was still in a hot situation... he knew he had gone to far, and would most likely pay the price for it... still he hid behind his mother and awaited Scar's response

[Panda-chan]

Tawa strutted into the cave proudly, a large grey mouse clamped firmly in his jaws. It was his first real prey he had ever caught on his own and he was immensely proud of himself. After spending the entire day scouring the devastated Pridelands for any sign of life, the cub had finally come across a whole nest of small grey fieldmice in a shaded thicket. While it was true that this scanty meal would barely suffice to feed one cub rather than the whole pride, Tawa felt like this was truly something he needed to boast to his friend about.
Tawa's confident stride was cut short by the sight of Sarabi and Ushujaa being confronted by Scar and his minions. Terrified, the young cub dropped the mouse he was holding and gawked at the assembled creatures, a tiny squeak emanating from his throat. The sight of the king always scared him to the point that he could hardly stand. He glanced over at his friend with wide green eyes and saw that he was equally scared.

OOC: I'm not going to be including Timon in this scene since it seems comic relief is the last thing we need right now.

Sarabi's gaze didn't not leave Scar's as he spoke to her, determined to show no signs of weakness nor relenting to the condescending tone with which he spoke to her. If she was to get herself--and Ushujaa--out of this predicament in one piece, staying strong but not overstepping her bounds completely was utterly necessary.

"Unfortunately impossible, Your Majesty. And even if it were, I have a nagging feeling it would matter nothing to you."

She shuddered as her son began to speak, trying desperately to motion for him to stop speaking, but to no avail.

Sarabi closed her eyes for a moment to regain her composure; she could not be seen by Scar with any sort of weakness in her voice. Glancing up as soon as Tawa entered the cave, she attempted to motion with her head for the small cub to flee the den, for if things got as bad as it perhaps could, she did not want Ushujaa's friend to witness a second of it. She only hoped that Tawa would get the message.

Returning her stare to Scar, she swallowed once and spoke, "Please forgive my son. He is still young; you know how cubs can be...."

She looked down once at Ushujaa mock-sternly, hoping her point would be put across to both the young cub and the adult King. "I'll have to have a word with him about what he can and cannot say in the presence of His Majesty. It will not happen again." She picked up Ushujaa in her mouth and stared once again at Scar, hoping her words of appeasement would satisfy the sometimes-stubborn King.

[Mike]

Scar's self satisfied and supremely confident facade slipped for a moment as the little cub dared to challenge him. He snarled fiercely, partly out of anger as he was reminded of Simba, and partly to install a deep sense of fear in the little cub. It wouldn't do for him to get the wrong idea about who was boss. He calmed down as Sarabi spoke, and his crafty mind viewed the situation as an opportunity to lay down the law.

"Now let's not be hasty Sarabi." Scar said, his anger disappearing so quickly as to be disconcerting. "Every lion in the pride may of course challenge me as they see fit." Scar bent threateningly over the little cub that looked so much like Simba in his youth "You see little one, if you wish to challenge me, it may not be with your words. A challenge from a lion in my pride is met by a battle... to the death."

[Ushujaa]

Ushujaa looked Scar in the eye, showing nothing but anger for moments... he shuttered the thought of a fight to the death in which he knew he could not win... No thank you, your Majesty Ushujaa mumbled with much resentment... he thought to himself for a few moments, Scar's words echoed throughout his mind ... Any lion within the Pride may challenge him... Ushujaa knew he had to find help... if any lion may challenge Scar, then he needed to find a strong lion who knew how to lead The Pride... Well then i guess, we're done here... unless you need anything else Sire! Ushujaa tried to keep himself calm, if he were to try to escape the Pride Lands to search for help, then he would need to stay on Scar's good side... He looked to Scar awaiting the okay to go back to his home...

[Panda-chan]

Tawa caught the look Sarabi had flashed at him but resolutely stayed where he was. Even though he knew he would only be endangering himself if he was caught spying, he was determined not to leave his friend alone for even a second should a fight suddenly erupt. Still, he knew he had to hide somewhere in order to escape detection from the feared king. The cub spotted a niche in the cave wall and hastily squeezed inside, poking his head out slightly so he could still hear what was going on.

[SimbasMate]

Simba leaned back on the vines, hanging from a tall jungle tree forming a comfy hammock. This was the life! He has no responsibilities whatsoever, and he didn't have to do anything. Simba lay back relaxing, and looking at the sky. How he missed his father. He did so much. Did his father lie to him? Simba replayed the words his father had told him long ago.
"The great kings of the past, look down on us, from those stars. So whenever you feel alone.. just remember, that those kings will always be there to guide you.. and so will I." Simba stirred un easily in his hammock. If his father was going to be there, guiding him, how come he wasn't here anymore? Simba knew that Scar had killed his father. As well as blaming him for it. Simba often wondered what was going on back at Pride rock, or most of all the outlands.

Sarabi stopped herself from growling at her son, but she could not mask her frustration at the cub's insistence on taking tones with Scar that simply did not need to be taken. Waiting, however, until Ushujaa had finished, she returned her gaze to Scar solemnly, all but ignoring her son's remarks as she spoke.

"It may well be that that day will come. But for now he is a cub and I ask that you show him mercy. I can assure you he will have a stern talking-to this evening."

Ushering Ushujaa to the back of the cave with her paw, Sarabi thought fleetingly of how like Mufasa he seemed in that moment: rebellious, unrelenting, and willing to stand up for what he believed in. Nonetheless, there was a time for everything, and then was simply not the time to get on the King's malevolent side.

"Are we done here, then?" Sarabi returned her attention to Scar.
