Simba smiled back at his friend, and tagged along behind him. The weak ground fell below their paws. Simba kept his claws out to keep his grip. Soon he saw a big gap, and Kovu was about to step right into it! Simba yelled. Kovu! Watch out! Don't fall!! Simba was worried that Kovu didn't hear him.

Kovu didn't hear Simba. He wasn't paying attention until he looked in front of him and saw a big gap. ARRGGGHHH! he screamed as he tried to jump to the other side. He manadeg to grab an edge, but he couldn't climb up and he wouldn't be able to hold on for a long time either. HEEELP! he yelled as he started slipping. The edge was slowly falling down.

Simba help out his paw to his friend. Kovu was in great danger! He didn't know what to do, but pull him up with his paw. Give me your paw, Kovu! Simba said anxiously. He thought about going to get Rafiki, but that would be a great risk. Simba grabbed Kovu's paw and tried to pull his friend up, but Kovu was a bit too heavy for him. Simba has limited choices. He could let his friend die, or he could tell Kovu to hold on while he went to get Rafiki. Simba teard up as he kept trying to pull Kovu up with his one paw. If he tried with the other, he would go down with Kovu.

Kovu felt relieved that his friend was there, but it was really hard to climb. He kept trying while holding Simba's paw. Fortunately, he managed to climb some more. He was almost to the top, but he couldn't climb more. His paws were tired.. Suddenly, a crazy idea came to his mind, but it could work. Simba, stop holding my paw! I've got an idea! he told his friend while trying not to look at the bottom of the gap.

Simba looked at Kovu like he was crazy. What did Kovu WANT to fall down? Simba didn't let go. He didn't want his friend to die....Kovu was his best friend ever! No! Kovu! You will fall! If I let go you will fall down and you will die. Just tell me your idea, and if I think that it's fine, I will left go. Simba said. He suddenly felt himself shaking all over.

Kovu felt that the ground was shaking again. Let my paw on the ground and I'll jump back to the ground! I don't have the strength to climb! Quick, the ground might fall soon! I think there's another earthquake! he shouted as he felt that the ground was shaking a lot more.

Simba looked at his friend with a pleading look in his eyes. Don't let me down, Kovu. Simba thought as he slowly let go of Kovu's paw. Simba screamed as he saw teh ground shaking again. KOVU! Hurray up.... please don't let yourself or me down. Simab almost fell off himself. For he was standing on the edge of the ground ready to grab Kovu's paw again if he needed help.

As soon as Simba let Kovu's paw down, Kovu grabbed with the paw the ground and got his claws out to hang on. He put his remaining energy on his back paws. He waited a bit, but the ground was ready to fall, so he knew he couldn't stay there any longer. He put more energy on his back paws and jumped up, while the ground where he was hanging on fell in the gap. He landed on Simba.

Simba fell on the ground when Kovu landed on him. He pushed Kovu off him, and threw him a teasing glare. Simba was so realived that Kovu was out of danger! Simba helped Kovu up off the ground and licked some dirt off of his friend. Simba looked at Kovu concerning. Are you ok, Kovu? You didn't get hurt did you? Simba asked Kouv, as he circled around him checking for any severe injuries.

Kovu stood up as he looked at his friend, relieved that he was out of the gap. I'm ok. Outsiders don't believe in pain. he told his friend, although he was hurt on his back paws. Suddenly, the ground started shaking again. We must hurry to go to Rafiki! The gap will become larger if the tremors keep going! he said as he saw another part of the ground falling into the gap.
