Shari ran fiercely and silently through the Pride Lands. Making sure his presence remained unknown was his top priority. The grass was soft and welcoming to his paws and he was able to travel twice as fast than on the rough soil of the Outlands. Several birds reacted to his appearance as they flew out of the way. But it wasn't anything to worry about. There were plenty of reasons for birds to fly away from their perches other than an outsider. The wind blew Shari's black and dark-red mane back as he continued his sprint towards Kiara. He was a blur to the naked eye. None could see this sprinting shadow. His speed was limited by not even his mind. Keeping his thoughts on only his mission, Shari burst through another flock of birds as they scattered into the air. A thrilling chase for kicks, but the mission was far from over.

He stopped. His fur color would certainly expose him to any Pride Lander, and so he quickly dove for cover under a large rock. The shadow hid his body perfectly as his eyes scanned over the land. Nothing. Silence rang across his mind as he thought he might have lost her. Until the ground began to shake... a herd of gazelle came storming through the lands. They came to a stop about 75 yards away from where Shari had stopped. Something startled those gazelle. There was only one thing that could have made them take off at such a blinding speed... a lion. More accurately, a lioness hunter. If Shari was to follow the direction the gazelle had come from, then he'd meet up with the lioness who stirred them up soon after.

Abandoning the safety of the shade, Shari rose to his feet and bolted right past the gazelle. Now it was only a matter of pinpointing the lioness' initial position and tracking her from there.

(No worries FallenAngel. ;) And wow... I can turn something as simple as running through the Pride Lands into a three paragraph post.)

Kiara crouched down by the gazelle again. She sniffed the air, scenting. She took a step in front of her gingerly, making no noise. The gazelle leaped, and Kiara sighed, jumping up and running after them, but they escaped. She didn't make them move, she didn't even make a noise. She turned around, sighing and shaking her head. She smelled something different, but couldn't pin-point it again.

"Let's try again." She told herself, before running down the line of the gazelle to catch one.

Tivana sniffed from the watering hole. She was overexcited from the news Simba gave her. But something was different. She smelled something. A different lion!

Growling low, she began to walk but stopped. Kiara was out there, while a different lion was out.
"Oh Simba is going to kill me!" She cursed, then bolted off, ready to find Kiara.

Shari continued to move through the Pride Lands. His eyes intent on the direction from which the gazelle came storming from. If his instinct was right, then he would soon come across the lion who scared the herd away. Passing through the tall grass and beside several trees, Shari kept his mind on the mission. Never once taking his eyes off the direction in which he was moving. I can't stop now. If I do, mother won't even look at me. he thought to himself. Zira all ready loved Kovu more than Shari. She even loved Nuka more than him. But maybe... maybe if he could fulfill his mission... then she'd see that he only wanted to please her.

He stopped. Something caught his eye. A twig... but it had been snapped. By the lion who had scared the herd. He looked down at the ground closely and spied another clue. Paw-prints... they were too small to belong to a male lion. The chances of the hunter being Kiara were greatly increased. Following the trail with his eyes, the paw-prints lead off into some tall grass. I've got her. Shari thought as he started again through the new terrain.

Though his speed slightly decreased, Shari maintained a steady pace through the tall grass to balance his speed and stealth. Suddenly, another herd of gazelle became visible. And if the hunter had tried once before to attack the gazelle, then she'd definitely try again. A wicked grin formed on Shari's muzzle. He placed his paw on a nearby twig and pushed down on one end. *snap!* The gazelle perked up and ran off in the opposite direction.

Shari then kept his eyes open for any other movement in the area. And there it was! A lioness ran after the herd of gazelle. She was already tired and was now wasting more energy in a fruitless attempt to catch the prey.

Shifting his weight from side to side, Shari burst into one last sprint through the Pride Lands after the lioness. A maniacal expression stayed upon his muzzle, and was only increased in malice from the scar on his right eye. His part in the mission was almost over.

(I'm gonna ike see if I can skip ahead and make Tivana appear in front of him)

Kiara sighed. Her energy was dying. She panted, wanting some water right about now. She just needed to make her first hunt successful. Eyeing the gazelle one last time, she took in a breath, taking one step. The gazelle jumped and ran. She gasped, then leaped after them. She threw out a clawed paw at one of the gazelle but missed. She stopped, flopping on the ground.

"Great I'll never be like my father." She told herself, panting. She shook her head, getting right back up and heading back toward Pride Rock.

Tivana ran through, suddenly seeing Kiara. But she saw something else. Another figure, headed toward them. Instincts kicked in, and she growled. Kiara hadn't seen her yet. Taking another jolt of energy, she sped up and headed toward the shadow. She knew it was an Outlander lion. Kiara's eyes followed her and she stopped, turning back to see Tivana running from her. Tivana snarled, jumping in front of the lion.

Shari bolted through the lands, trailing closely behind the huntress. His mind and body were ready to strike, claws drawn and teeth bared.

The lioness turned to Pride Rock as Shari stopped for a moment to catch his breath. Ducking underneath a rock for cover, he breathed slowly and steadily to ensure his energy would be maximized for the final part in the mission. He thought about how Zira would treat him like the hero he was. He would finally be recognized. He would finally be... loved. He wiped a tear from his eye as he though No... not yet. He would soon be everything that he wanted to be. And he would finally prove himself worthy to be in the Outlander's pride. He would show them all. Zira, Nuka, Vitani... and Kovu.

Energy restored and mind invigorated, Shari leaped out of his cover and silently bolted at the still visible lioness. It was a gamble taking a small break, but she wasn't going anywhere fast. It was almost too easy. But just as he was closing the gap, another lioness jumped out in front of him. He skidded to a halt, as did all three of the lions in that area. Shari's dark mane drooped down, covering most of his face. He did get a glimpse of the lioness whom had gotten in his way. "Move it kid! My beef isn't with you!" He roared loudly at Tivana, mane still hiding his face. They couldn't see his eyes, but he could see through the hairs enough to make out who was who. He turned to Kiara and continued, "It's with her."

Tivana snarled, claws unsheathing from her paws as she looked at the outlander. Kiara looked at the lion, then bolted over to Tivana. But she wasn't surprised by the lion.

"Tivana what's going on?" She asked her friend, looking at the musclular lion in front of them. Tivana growled a warning. Kiara took it. Though they were both friends, Tivana had a protectivness in her. When she growled, Kiara knew to get back. She took a step back, but pinned her ears back and looked at the lion.

Tivana growled, her ears pinned against her head, tail swishing angriliy.

"Why are you here outlander? Go back where you belong! Or do I have to fight you out of this territory?" She hissed. Maybe she would make Simba proud of her. Hopefully the lion wouldn't mistake her color.

Shari looked at the lioness who had so willingly put herself in his way. Why? What had he ever done to her? It all made sense when Kiara ran up to the other lioness. Tivana was her name. And she looked like an outsider herself. But she wasn't. She stood up for Kiara... protected her. She was a traitor. Or perhaps she had never been an outsider. The questions didn't both Shari though, as his only mission was to attack Kiara. From there, Kovu would take the rest.

This kid had spunk. Any other day, Shari would let her live. But not today. If she got in his way, he wouldn't hesitate to kill her. Shari raised his paw and moved his mane out of his face, revealing his scarred right eye and a wicked grin.

"You've got guts kid." Shari said with a small chuckle. He took a few steps to Tivana. The scenario hadn't changed, only a small addition for joy. Shari would take pleasure in killing this one. "It's a shame I've got to rip them out of you."

Tivana snarled. She didn't take her eyes off of him as she began to step around him, beginning her circle. She had learned to circle and confuse the lion, before attacking. She hissed, her ears pinned back, but she did chuckle, her half closed eyes rolling as she watched the lion. Kiara backed up out of the way, ready to bolt if something happened and she needed help.

"Tivana don't!" She cried, looking at the lioness. Tivana just ignored her. She watched the lion, and saw the scar. He was an outlander! The ruggedness was enough, but now she knew. Still, she thought there might have been something different in him. Something more.

"Working for Zira now are we? Why can't she fight her own battles? Instead of taking some other lion in to be killed instead of her." She taunted lightly. Tivana kept circling the lion, even as rumbles were strong, the wind whipping her fur around.

"Very well. If its a fight you want. It's a fight you'll get." She hissed. Kiara gasped.

"Tivana!" She yelped.

Shari stood in the same spot. Keeping his eyes on Kiara, but his ears on Tivana. She was taunting him. And as soon as he revealed his new scar, she claimed that he was working for Zira. At first, Shari thought to say that she was his mother. But he decided against it. It would be much more fun to mess with her mind. And Shari knew better than any just how to do it.

"Why so willing to throw your life away?" Shari questioned with an expressionless face. He kept his ears on her movements making sure that she wasn't going to make any sudden attacks. "Unless you wanted to join us in earlier times." Shari continued to provoke Tivana as he awaited her to command him to stop talking. But he wouldn't listen to her. "But you were too weak. So we turned you away."

He gestured toward Pride Rock "And now you've allied yourself with that group of weaklings." Shari was digging himself a grave. But no matter how much Tivana thought she had the situation under control, it was really Shari who controlled the scenario. Both Tivana and Kiara's lives were in his paws. And he would make them squirm. He would make them beg for death! They would feel the pain that he held in his heart! The fear in his mind! All the loathsome years he spent in the shadows of Kovu! They would rue the day they met Shari and all the malice in his heart!

But... he couldn't kill Kiara... It wasn't part of the plan. Rethinking his method, Shari decided to kill Tivana in-front of Kiara... and then Kovu would step in. He would seem an even bigger hero. And Shari would become a somebody to his mother and his pride.

Shari finally came back to as he reentered the situation. Kiara still standing far away from Tivana, still circling Shari. He gave her a quick glance. He smirked and raised an eyebrow. "But you can join the Outsiders if you want." He gave a small chuckle and raised his paw, black claw unsheathed. "If you don't mind me scarring that pretty face of yours."

"I never wanted to join your pathectic pack! I belong here!" She snapped, but Tivana knew he was right. She would never be a part of the pride she was in now. Her ears drooped for a second and she squinted her eyes shut.

But maybe she could weaken him. Maybe she could somehow make him think she was pathetic, and leave her alone, then attack. It was the truth, she didn't feel right in the pridelands, they weren't her home.

"No matter who I am. I belong with the pride!" She hissed, flexing her claws. If its a scar she gets, its a scar she gets. Maybe she would look good with a scar across her face. Make her look brave and proud. She twitched her tail quickly, waiting to see what the lion would do.
