Adofo: I just need to know.....do you honestly and truly love me?

[Iri]

Anga nodded. "Yes," she answered truthfully.
Beside her, Arida sighed. "Grandpa, how many times must we go through this?"

[Adofo]

Adofo: You don't know what it's like.......I got betrayed by my own uncle! I thought everyday that he loved and cared for me! But instead......he used and lied to me! Anga.....I'm sorry I talked to you about this. But I really love you with all my heart! You're my baby girl! And you always will be!

[Iri]

Arida whipped her head up, shocked. "What do you mean, I don't know what it's like?!" she said slowly, her neck fur raising. "I've gone through things too. Betrayal, hurt, pain, grief, suffering, all that. I've gone through that too!"

[Adofo]

Adofo: Arida......that's not what I meant!

[Iri]

Arida struggled to keep her neck fur from bristling. "Then what did you mean?"

[Adofo]

Adofo: I mean.....you don't know what it's like......being something else no one else could ever be! A human! The beatings, the teasing, the jokes, the ridicule , the feeling of.......being the only one that could possibly understand you. I was the only human the pridelands had ever accepted. All other humans that they knew of.......hunted down other animals. Because of what other humans did......where ever I went I was hated, looked down upon, the thing that should have been left to die......helpless. My family and friends....was really the only ones I truly trusted......then.......my uncle opened my eyes.........that sometimes family......is only a word.

[Iri]

Anga looked shock. Then her expression went from shock to hurt and anger. "Oh," she said simply, her voice quivering. "I get it." She slowly jumped down from where Adofo was sitting and numbly staggered over to Arida. She faced the wall, her head bowed, her eyes brimmed with tears.

[Adofo]

Adofo: Oh no....Anga.....please don't mad at me!

[Iri]

Anga shook her head, still facing the wall. "I'm not mad at you."
"She's not angry," Arida said. "Perhaps just a little... uh... hurt."
"I'm fine," Anga insisted, wiping at her eyes with her front paw.
