Heshima nodded solemnly at Tanga. Being able to get out of their enclosure, to hunt for their own food... heck, just to get out for a bit and stretch their legs, so to speak, would be nothing short of magical. But hopeless was the word Tanga used to describe their situation, and right he was. There had been no signs of anything of the sort in the many seasons since they had come to the enclosure, after all. And their rations had not increased much since the beginning; would the outsiders really change them now? It was a disconcerting notion to think of, but it was something that had to be brought up. Their very well-being depended upon it.
Hearing Tanga speak up again, Heshima's ears swiveled so that she was fully attentive to her mate before speaking in response. "I think it's just an unusual day. A coincidence, maybe. And if it's not... well, then they can't avoid giving us more food, can they? I mean... they'd be killing us, then. Slowly, but surely."
"But I agree," she said, "I'm glad we have these new little ones. Kopa is obviously a nice little thing and Li... well, we'll see what happens, but I'm sure Li will get along just nicely with the rest of the pride as well. It will do Marini some good to have cubs around her own age to play with." she paused for a moment. "I mean, think about it, Tanga... one of them could be the future King of this place once you and I die. The stars only know who it would have been had neither of them shown up..."
