Kokota was walking alongside the river of the Pride Lands. He was looking across the river, especially into the bushes for any movements. He turned his head to look downriver, and he saw a lioness drinking from the other side. At first he was startled, but when he looked closer he saw that the lioness was in fact, quite old. She still had strength in her arms and legs, but it looked as if she found it difficult to move. The lioness was lapping her tongue at the water and had her head down. She was unaware of Kokota's presence.
He decided to hide behind a bush and watch her. She continued to drink, as if she hadn't in days. Kokota had never seen a lone lioness before. After a few minutes, the lioness lifted her head and looked around. She stared at Pride Rock and turned away. Kokota guessed from her figure that she was very sad. He probably would've scared her away by growling at first, but now he realized she was no harm to the pride.
"Hey!" he called out to her, exiting the bush, "Who goes there?"
The lioness looked up, startled. She saw a brownish gold lion approaching the other side's bank. He looked liked he was hardly in adolescence, yet this might be the end for her. She couldn't outrun him or outfight him in her condition. Not even a headstart could insure escape. Trying to be as nice and presentable as possible she replied, "Hello, young lion. My name is Nala, I used to be in this pride." She hoped he would believe him.
"Nala?" Kokota was taken aback. He became excited. It was his grandmother, a living legend! "Nala! I'm Kokota! I'm Kiara's son." he called out. "Come across the river, everyone will be so happy!" He couldn't believe it. The rest of the pride thought she was dead along with Simba.
"I don't think I can make the swim" she said. "I've been waiting here, gathering my strength for hours. I still don't think I can make it."
Kokota dived into the river and swam across the river to her side. Although most of the other lions couldn't even swim, Kokota enjoyed the water and could swim unlike the others. He reached her side and said, "I'll help you."
"You're a fine swimmer." she said.
Kokota helped her across the river and the two began to walk towards Pride rock. During the journey, they began to share stories. Kokota was wise enough to not mention Simba. It seemed to him as if she was trying to forget him. Maybe it was best this way.
[ OOC: Obviously, we have a new character now. Nala's text color will be #40BF80 ]
