A very small golden furred lioness climbed the pride rock. She gazed at the horizont where even the last trace of sunlight had been gone.
Laini was disturbed by the loud shouting of the lions up there so that she got up to look for the source of this noise.
Her den was far away near the den Daxis was assigned to. She was the lioness with the lowest rank in the whole pride. Partly it was because she hated brawls and anything that would make her dirty. She really cared for her appereance and she was very feminine. The only lioness that she sometimes socialized with was Serafina.
Laini crossed the edge of the corner and now had a good vision on the group of lions. She stopped abruptly as she noticed Vitani. Laini feared this strong lioness and not only because Vitani was far bigger and stronger than Laini but also because it had been Vitani who killed her mother back in the big war between the prideland and the outlands.
Laine walked backwards until she was behind the corner again. She would not even have spoken up to any other lion in the pride if it had not been Vitani waiting there but this made it even worse. Laini evaded Vitani as much as she could. It was not that Laini held grudges but... she was afraid of the outlanders and especially of Vitani.
Laini herself was a very bad fighter. As a huntress she was a disaster and noone really thought about giving her any task.
The young lioness turned around and walked back towards her den. She was tired already but she had such a light sleep that this yelling and roaring did prevent her from finding peace in her den. Maybe she should go a bit further to the dens near the private water hole? The dens there were usually empty and maybe it was more silent there?
While Laini thought about it her white paws carried her all the way down pride rock. She reached the private water hole. She did not dare to go there for a drink. It was only for guests and the higher rank lions. The voices of Vitani and the others were to far away to disturb her here. She had been right.
Laini entered the next den she could find and curled up next to the entrance. She did not know that she mistakenly took the den that Simba assigned for Gumu. Laini closed her eyes and tried to finally find some sleep.
