Captive's Struggle [PRIVATE: AC & SinChei]

Tanga heard a growl behind him and turned around, finding none other than Daxis coming at him. "Oh, hey there..." he said hesitantly, still avoiding the use of the cub's name despite knowing it now, knowing that Kulinda had not meant to give it away, and that Daxis probably didn't like it.

But he stopped when he saw the look in Daxis' eyes, causing him to back off, away from the cub. "What are you doing?" he asked hesitantly, hoping the look Daxis had did not mean he was trying to attack him. Tanga did not want to have to fight off a cub...even if Daxis was mean, Tanga still hoped that it could be changed, and was still doing everything he could to be as polite and considerate as possible towards the cub.

Tyson nodded as Shane asked for help, opening the first aid kit and getting to work cleaning and bandaging the wounds on Shane's leg, trying not to hurt his friend too much as he worked. "I bet it was amazing," he said as Shane described his encounter with Tanga. "But he doesn't seem to like me too much. Do you think he knows you're the one who helped him last night?" he asked, still curious.

Daxis slowed down when tange turned around and noticed the cub was not there to talk to him. Daxis lowered his whole upper body near to the ground and growled. He wanted to do something quickly before Kulinda would stop him or at least tell tange never to use his name.

Be quiet! Everything is your fault! You safed one of these weird creatures! And because of that Kulinda got angry and accidentally told you my name!

It was totally not interesting to him that Tanga once saved his life. Daxis didn't care even one time. He hissed a last time before jumping towards tanga again and trying to bite him somewhere. Daxis did not care how he would bite him he just wanted to do this to feel better.

Shane stretched out his leg to make it easier for his friend to help him with his wounds. It hurt sometimes but shane was not complaining. Just relaxed and let his friend do the work.

It was amaing Tyson i could feel everything it was weird but so awesome. I think he still know I helped him last night. He was looking at the bandage when i entrered the enclosure. I think he tried to figure out if i had done that. I will try to envolve you next time and show him that you are my friend and he can trust you

Shane smiled and waited for a reply from his friend

Tanga backed off slightly as the cub growled at him. He could tell Daxis was very angry, and as the cub spoke, Tanga began to figure it out. "Look, just calm down a little and let's talk about..."

His attempt to calm Daxis down faded into a surprised roar as Daxis jumped towards him, his teeth bared, obviously intending on biting him, like he had with the human. Tanga instincted shied away from the pouncing cub...which was probably the only thing that saved him from losing an eye. Instead of pouncing on his muzzle, Tanga stumbled back, hissing as he felt Daxis's jaws close on his neck, although the lion was saved from a fatal wound by his black mane, which Daxis's small teeth could not penetrate effectively. He could still feel the cub's fangs, though, and roared again as pain flashed through his neck, his backwards stumble causing him to fall over, thumping onto his side in the grass.

Before Daxis could do any more harm...and possibly kill him, Tanga grabbed the cub in both his forepaws, pulling the struggling cub away from him, hoping to avoid any further injury. "Daxis, stop!" he cried instinctively, even though he knew it would probably do no good.

By the time Kulinda caught up to Daxis, he had already pounced Tanga, and was currently trying to sink his fangs into Tanga's neck. "Tanga!" the pale lioness cried, fearing that Daxis may have severed a vital blood vessel in his irration attack. But as she bounded forward, she saw Tanga pull the struggling cub away from his body, and was relieved when his wounds appeared to be minor. But she knew that Daxis would most likely keep trying to attack him, and also knew that Tanga was probably too gentle to truly stop Daxis.

She quickly came up to the two of them, yelling as she went. "Alright, Daxis, that is enough!" The anger in her voice was very obvious, and she had a fierce glare in her eyes that let Daxis know he was in very big trouble from her this time. "Come with me! I need a word with you!" Without waiting for an answer from the red-maned cub, she grabbed him roughly by the nape of the neck and pulled him away from Tanga, who got up, watching the two of them hesitantly. She nodded to the male, letting him know that he could go, before turning and walking off, still holding Daxis. She did not hurt him as she walked, but she made no attempt to be overly gentle with him either...this time, he needed to learn his lesson, and learn it well.

Tyson finished up tending to Shane's leg as his friend talked, stepping back. His face became thoughtful as Shane suggested involving him next time. "Hmm...Goldy doesn't really seem to like me that much. As long as we stay behind this gate when you first try this, I'll play along. But I don't expect much...it's you he likes. I'm amazed he even let you get close to him, let alone actually touched you."

He looked back out to the enclosure, seeing no-one near the gate, before sighing. "Come on, then, let's get back so we can start looking at the extra security for the enclosure...I don't want a repeat of last night ever again."

Daxis was pouncing towards the goldn furred male everytime he backed off and got amused by it by the time to scare him off and making him back off like a little cub. As Daxis was pouncing towards him a last time he saw him falling on the ground and he dug his fangs towards his neck.

No talk! cry like a little cub!

He just came milimeters through his thick mane and growled angrily wanting them deeper into it but couldn't moove deeper. The next thing he felt was tangas paws around his flanks and pulling him back. But the yelling made him just angrier and he struggled like in a rush.
LET GO!
He tried just to fight himself free even if he heared kulinda already yelling at him. Still growling and fighting against Tanga's grip he felt the lionesses muzzle grabbing him by the nape and taking him with her away from Tanga. He felt her anger instinctively and because of the fact she did not hold him as gentle as everytime by his nape. It made him struggle a bit and moaning in exhaustion.

Mhh... Hey... not like this not like this.
He tried to wrap his paws around her muzzle and bringing himself in a better position.
He... knew my name.. come on mom you have to understand. So he kind of started all this it is not my fault
He made some quealing cub sounds again and struggled a bit more.

Shane just nodded to his suggestions and pulled himself on his feet with the help of his friend. His leg still hurt but it felt much better like this and he wanted to get done this before some poachers would come near the enclosure again.

He looked for the pickup and went towards it wanting to sit down before doing something else. He opened the door of the Car and sat down on his side of the truck.

Kulinda heard Daxis' protests to her handling of him, but ignored them. She would have said something, but with Daxis currently being held in her jaws, she could not open her mouth. She did, however, growl warningly, telling him without words to quiet down...immediately.

After taking Daxis a safe distance from Tanga, she placed Daxis on the ground, quickly shoving him firmly, but not painfully, onto his back, placing a single paw on his chest to stop him from escaping. "Daxis," she said, her voice firm and hard, her muzzle contorted in obvious, infuriated disappointment. "Don't you dare try to blame this on Tanga!" she scolded. She knew she was being harsh, but also knew that it was necessarry. She had tried being gentle with Daxis, and he had gone and disobeyed her...seconds after being told off. It seemed she needed to take a more direct approach to this. "I told you...not two minutes ago...I told you that attacking another creature, leonine or otherwise, without cause was wrong...and what did you do, not even one minute after I had told you off for such a thing? You go and do it again!"

"Daxis, you have got to control your temper...Tanga did nothing, absolutely nothing, to you, and you go and attack him! By the Kings, Daxis, YOU COULD HAVE KILLED HIM!" she roared. "You almost killed another lion, and why...because he knew your name?" Kulinda snorted, making it clear to Daxis that such an excuse for attacking a lion was never, ever going to work. "Right now, I'm disgusted with you, Daxis. Your behaviour today has been horrible, and there is no excuse for almost killing another lion. If it weren't for the fact that we are trapped behind these walls those creatures have built, Tanga and Makali could very easily choose to exile you, or even kill you...and they would be allowed to do it!"

She glared hard at the cub under her paw one more time. "But because you are young, and Tanga's such a kind-hearted lion, I'm sure they won't do anything about today. But the fact that you have disobeyed me...twice...in the space of ten minutes, is nothing short of disgusting!" she loosened her grip on Daxis slightly, allowing him to move, but still stopping him from getting up. "Now...do you have anything to say for yourself?" she demanded...hoping for an apology of some sort, but doubting she'd get one. She just hoped Daxis did not try to keep blaming Tanga or the human for his actions...just hoped he at least partially learned his lesson.

Tyson slipped into the pickup, bringing the vehicle to life, before driving it back towards their headquarters...he thought it best that they plan everything out before they started, especially since someone was going to have to make a trip back into civilization in order to get the cameras they would need. As he drove, he smiled at Shane's enthsiasm, and the way he described being in there with the lion. "I bet it's awesome," he said. "But we'll see what happens when we get the chance."

As Kulinda left, carrying Daxis with her, Tanga watched them, slightly confused by their interaction as he rubbed his neck, his paw coming out from his mane only slightly stained with blood. Daxis had not done any serious damage, just a couple of very small cuts. Sighing, he turned and walked off, soon picking up the smell of a kill, which lead him to Makali, who was lazing beside his kill, which he had already eaten from, it seemed. "Makali...you awake?" Tanga called softly, not wanting to disturb his friend if he had taken a nap.

Daxis was very surprised by Kulinda shoving him onto his back and causing him to squeal once more and try to get up again. He had no chance and when he wanted to say something he was cut off by Kulinda. His fur was ruffling up as he couldn't escape her glare. He hadn't the heart to even pretend not listenning to her. She was much more mother then his own and that wasn't the only reason he called her mom. Even if Daxis was kind of sad and a bit scarred he still loved her. She made him feel important for someone. He sometimes tried to bring something in but everytime was cut off by her strong strict voice. He instantely tried to get up when she lossened her grip but gave up as quick as he tried it when he noticed her paw stll holding her down. When she asked him if he still had anything to say daxis broke the eye contact and thought about what to do to distract from pnishing him again.

Well...
Daxis really didn't know what to say and started to go anotgher way. espacially the thing with exiling and killing him made him really silence.
But ... tanga... I.. Daxis wanted tanga not to come away easilly and remembered what his brothr did to him everytime.
But i wanted to talk ... and tanga started beating me before i could do something....
His parents were believing him everytime and had beaten daxis up for nothing.

Shane nodded again and could feel how his friend were amazed by his actions with the lion but he just giggled and looked forward on the dusty way home. He was in minds imagining what would happen next when he would meet goldy. The best ever would be if he could understand the lion or teach him how to speak but that would have to be a dream.

Makali was still resting his head on the preys flank and snored loudly. His ears were titching when he quietly heard the voice of tanga in his dreams and slowly woke up while snorring louder what changed in a loud yawn.

Mhhh..,. Tanga i was waiting years of you now where have you been and what have you done so long now you have to eat that pey here. sorry it isn't a fresh kill

He said still being very tired from just awaking and hunting. His body wasn't used to hunt anymore. Sometimes the humans just brang him food what was nearly every day.

Daxis' words were the wrong thing to say, as Kulinda had seen enough of the confrontation to know that Daxis had started it, not Tanga. Barely resisting the urge to hit Daxis, knowing that was one thing she must not ever do to him, she instead pinned the cub back down firmly, roaring angrily. "Do not lie to me, Daxis!" she snarled. "I saw what happened...you had Tanga on his back, when he is easily many times your size. If he wanted to beat you, he would not have had any trouble doing so. The fact he did not fight back against you in any way astounds me...but only makes your actions even worse!"

At this point, she took a few deeps breaths, forcing herself to calm down. She still did not release Daxis, though. "Daxis, look at me when I'm talking to you," she said, calmly but firmly, before falling silent, waiting for Daxis to comply before continuing. He needed to learn his lesson...and perhaps, by seeing the digust and disappointment in her eyes over his actions today, the message would sink in that he needed to change his behaviour.

Tyson quickly drove them back into the garage, turning off the pickup and immediately heading for the observation room, wanting to watch the lions as he discussed the security measures with Shane. Watching the enclosure had an interesting effect of calming Tyson down, allowing him to think more clearly.

"Sorry, Makali," Tanga apologised as he approached, sitting down near his friend. "I meant to come find you a while ago, but I was kinda caught up." He paused for a brief moment, taking his first bite out of the animal Makali had caught. Even though the kill wasn't completely fresh, it was more than good enough for Tanga...even a semi-fresh kill was better than the preserved meat the humans brought them sometimes.

Once he'd swallowed his first bite, he decided to start explaining. "One of the humans came to the gate before, and I sort of, well...met him, so to speak," he started, wondering if Makali would figure out what he was trying to say, and how he would react to the truth.

Daxis were still looking on a rock which was laying just a few inches away of the two lions when he felt himself pressed against the ground again and hearing Kulindas roar and voice echoing in his head. It did not work out like daxis hoped it would. He moaned low and pushed some air out of his lungs when he hit the ground again. Not being able to say even one word to defend himself he gave some low whines from himself. The cub relaxed when she seemed to calm down but winced badly when she shouted again.
But daxis heard her order of looking at her and turned his head hesitantly and unwilling to hers. the red mane cub paced up the speed of his flicking tail when he looked in her eyes and wished he could run away for a moment but couldn't even move more then his tail. After he complied daxis could not look away anymore scarred she would force him to.

Shane just followed his friend slowly and carefully. he didn't want the wound to open to much and getting even worse. As they reached the observation room he managed to sit down on one of the chairs. His view instantly fell on the enclosure searching the golden furred lion with his eyes.

Makalis interest grew with every word about the humans Tanga let escape his muzzle. Tanga did that where Makali was to scarred for everytime he tried to get closer to the skinny creatures. He ever felt they were warm and kindly expect the two humans from the night before.

Really?! ... you did it?! I tried it so often but failed. I was scarred they would attack me if i come closer. Since i was big enough to hunt my own food they were... kind of defensively and tried to avoid the contackt. When i was young the caressed me and i felt home

He said with a glisten in his eyes. in the fact makali had no parents the humans were a good refund for them in his eyes.

Kulinda looked straight back into Daxis' eyes as he reluctantly complied to her demand, and kept their gazes locked as she continued to talk. "Daxis...your actions today have been horrendous, and there is no excuse for any of it. You cannot solve everything by yelling and attacking anything and anyone you don't like." Her voice was still calm, as she forced herself not to yell, but there was a hard edge to it, showing that she was still angry, and very disappointed with the cub under her paw. "All you will do is make everyone your enemy, and lose all your friends."

She sighed, before moving on. "Right now, Daxis, I am very, very disappointed in you. How am I supposed to show you how to behave as a lion when you won't even listen to me?" At this point, she finally removed her paw from Daxis, allowing the cub to get up as she turned and started walking off, before stopping, looking over her shoulder at the cub she had decided to try and raise. "Until you start listening to me, I can't help you. Now, I need some time alone to calm down, as you have made me very angry." Her voice started regaining it's hard, angry edge. "I do not want to see you again, Daxis...until I hear that you have apologised to Tanga...for everything today, and that you have accepted that he knows your name. And don't try to lie to me again, Daxis...you don't want to make me even angrier."

With those rather harsh, but in Kulinda's mind necessarry, words the lioness stalked off, looking for a spot away from everyone else where she could rest, calm down, and think for a while...it had been a trying morning.

As Tyson looked out of the observation window over the enclosure, he saw the last part of the argument between the lioness and the cub. "Shane, look!" he said, grabbing his binoculars as he pointed to where Kulinda and Daxis were. "Something happened...the lioness does not look happy with the little guy," he said, a small amount of worry lacing his voice, wondering what the lioness would do to the cub.

But in the end, his fear was proven unneeded as the lioness stalked off, leaving the cub alone. "What happened?" he asked vaguely, wondering what could have angered the only adult the cub had really interacted with so far.

Tanga smiled. "Yeah, I'm not sure about the one with the darker skin, but the other one...the one I think put this on me," he pointed to his bandage to show what he meant. "He actually came in with me...most of the time they seem afraid that we're going to attack them or something, but he...I don't know, it seemed like he trusted me or something. He touched me...and I actually touched him as well, without him running off or anything!" His voice went higher and higher with every word, showing his obvious excitement at having gotten so close to one of the humans, without it attempting to harm him in any way. But he sighed as he remembered the rest. "And then it all went wrong..."

Daxis could see her didappointement deep in her eyes mixed with anger and disgust. Finally he really noticed that it was just wrong. Espacially now when he remembered that tanga offered him to talk about it. But what did hurt the most was that Kulinda was just going away and said she didn't want to see him again until he apologies at tanga. He really had to held back one tear as she slowly disappeared. He was to sad that he could n't perk up his ears they were like stucking at his head.

Mom...? .... kulinda?....
He said low to himself.

The cub scratched his chest were kulindas paw held him down and very slowly made his way to the both other lions while thinking about something he could please kulinda without apologising.

Shane quickly grabbed some binoculars when he heard his friend seeing something weird happening in the enclosure. Shane could imagine why the lioness did it and turned his head to his friend.

I think she is teaching him a lesson or something in the way. As he bit my leg he just stopped as the lioness growled at him. She seemed to be very angry. And the cub seemed to really listen to her you understand?

makali widened up his eyes and jumped on his paws he was clearly scarred about somehing what could have been happened when he met the humans.

What?! What went wrong?!?

It was like a giid firned of him got hurt or a family member. Makali was nervous and made a step closer towards the giolden furred lion in front of him. Thanks to the wind Daxis scent entered his nose very early but he didn't care now.
