Kulinda thought about Daxis' words, realising that the cub unfortunately had a good point. That human had placed them in this enclosure, along with the other one, and had seperated her from her brother.
But he smiled as a thought crossed her mind. "Tanga, you're a genius..." she whispered under his breath, before turning back to Daxis. "Daxis, you're right...those humans have put us all in here, and won't let us out. But do you really think you're going to convince them to let you go by trying to chew their legs off? The point is, Tanga owes that human his life after last night, and if he wants to repay that by befriending the creature, that is his choice, and we must respect it."
She then came up to Daxis, lowering her head so it was on the cub's level. "Look, I don't like those creatures much, either...I want to go back and hurt that human for bringing me here. Because of them, I can't see my brother, and probably never will again. But if Tanga wants to make a friend in one of them, we must let him do so. Besides, maybe Tanga's got a plan. Who know, maybe the human will let us go when Tanga gets closer to him, and he realises we don't really want to be here."
She then sat back up straight, going back to her more authorative voice, reminding Daxis that while she was trying to be gentle, that he was still in trouble. "Do you understand now, Daxis, what you did wrong? You're not in trouble for attacking the human, because any lion would have done the same thing. You are in trouble for being selfish, not listening to the requests of others, and deliberately upsetting Tanga. I know you were not raised properly before you came here, but that is not an excuse, we do not, ever, seek to purposely upset other lions, for any reason."
Her face softened slightly. "But, just this once, I will keep your punishment light. Because of your actions, Tanga now knows your name, and nothing can change that, so that can be one part of your punishment. On top of that, I want you to go and apologise to Tanga later today. Not for attacking the human, but for not listening to him, and not stopping when he asked you to. You need to learn that being selfish will not get you anywhere, Daxis." She hated having to give out even this reprimand, but knew she had to do it, and held firm. Her face still showed her care for Daxis, but also her disappointment, showing that while she would still look out for him, she was not pleased with how he had behaved today.

The furless skin was an odd feeling under Tanga's paw, but he ignored it, his soft purr returning as Shane started stroking his paw, seemingly happy with Tanga reaching out and making contact like that. The human spoke in his strange language again, and Tanga could hear the gentle, calming words, and knew that this human would never try to hurt him in any way.
But it was at this point that Tanga became aware of the other human by the gate, causing him to back away, giving a light, half-hearted hiss. Realising he was hungry, and that Makali was probably wondering where he was, Tanga decided he had seen enough of this human for now. Backing away further, showing the human that he was leaving, he stopped for one last brief moment. "Goodbye," he said to Shane, who would only hear a soft, almost regretful growl. With that last word, he turned around and walked off, a little reluctantly, soon fading from the sight of the humans.
