Revenge - Shadowfax and Tsuki [Private]

[Shadowfax]

Vex bolted into the jungle and when she reached the tree line, she span round to look at the scene before her. Zuberi was then running back out into the savannah.

"Fool! You'll be shot!" She called after him, but whether or not he heard her, Vex never found out. All the little lioness could do now was wait and see if her mother and companion would return.

Nova meanwhile felt the bullets fly past her but never lose her edge. She had dealt with humans before and knew those fire sticks ran out eventually. When Zuberi appeared however she growled as he ran into her as the bullet missed them both by a mere few inches. The humans both turned their guns on Zuberi, a cat with a nicer pelt in their opinions. Nova gasped and leapt forward. This time, she collided with Zuberi as a shot rang through the air and sent blood flying.

Everything went silent in her left ear as blood streamed down through the bullet hole in her ear.

[Tsuki]

Zuberi heard Vex shout after him but it was too late. He couldn't let Nova be killed. He knocked himself into her as the first shot went off. But he then froze to the spot as the humans took aim at him. He couldnt outrun a bullet. As the second shot went off he closed his eyes and waited for the pain to hit him. But it wasn't pain that hit him. He felt Nova knock into him and then he picked up a sharp scent of blood. His eyes flew open and he looked at Nova as blood started to trickle down her ear. His eyes widened in fear.

"Nova.....I...You..."

[Shadowfax]

"Don't... Just... Stand there..." Nova growled as blood began to fall from her ear.

The pain was near on unbearable and her hearing was still ringing as she gave Zuberi another push.

"Run or we are both gonna die!" She pleaded as the humans again raised their guns towards the two cats.

[Tsuki]

Zuberi stared at the blood running down Nova's ear until she gave him a push towards the treeline. Zuberi blinked, shook his head and sprinted towards the treeline. He wasn't use to running this much and it was taking it's toll. When he reached the treeline he collapsed on his side next to Vex, panting for breath. He looked over his shoulder as Nova was still running towards the treeline.

Come on Nova. You can make it

Another bullet missed Nova and Zuberi by a mere inch. She growled, but was relieved when Zuberi leapt into a sprint and disappeared. He was faster than herself, but Nova knew not to run in a straight line. Again, a shower of bullets was sent around her as she began to zig zag sprint towards the safety of the tree line. The pain in her ear was getting unbearable, but she knew if she stopped running she was dead.

Then the firing stopped. The fire sticks were finally out of bullets. Nova knew she had a good while before the bullets started again.

"Both of you, now! Run into the jungle! We will be safe in there!"

[Tsuki]

Zuberi turned to look at the mass of trees behind him and he shuddered slightly. It was so dark in there and so many trees. It was almost...unnatural to him. There was no way he could run through these trees without causing himself an injury. Nor did he have the energy to run anywhere. Cheetahs could run fast, but it was their weakness too. They couldn't do it for long.

He stood up and looked into the dense mass of trees in front of him. He couldn't survive in there. But if he stayed out in the grassland, he would be shot or discovered by other lions. He was torn. Go forward into the unknown or go back to the grasslands.

Nova gave one more burst of speed and began to run towards her daughter. Vex span round and ran alongside her immediately as she passed her. The little lionesses's eyes darted to Nova's ear where blood was seeping through the wound. Nova herself could not hear a thing out that ear, so Vex's voice was muffled when she asked;

"Mother, are you ok?"

She managed to just about hear that and gave a firm nod of her head. Behind them there was a click and Nova knew that meant they had re-loaded their guns. She roared as she saw Zuberi up ahead.

"Don't be afraid, just go! We can't let them see us now or we'll die!" She growled as they halted next to him for a moment.

"NOW! GO!" Nova said, leaping into the jungle, hoping the others would follow.

[Tsuki]

Zuberi jumped slightly as Nova roared at him and he hissed back. But this was more of an automatic response. When he saw the blood trickling down Nova's ear his eyes widened in shock. The humans had done that? Even from that far away? He looked back at the grassland as the humans seemed to advance on them. One of the raised his arm again and Zuberi knew what this meant. He turned and looked back at the jungle, hesitated for a few seconds and then ran as carefully as he could into the dark mass of trees, carefully avoiding roots and small bushes. He stopped until he reached a clearing and looked back over his shoulder to see if the humans had followed him. His panted for breath and exhaustion seemed to hit him as fast as that bullet had hit Nova. He looked around him and shuddered. He didn't like this place. This was no place for a Cheetah. But there was one thing that worried him the most. Where was Nova and Vex?

[Shadowfax]

"No, damn it!" One of the hunters cried as the three cats vanished into the jungle.

"We will never find them in there. Damn it all"

"Guess we better get back to hunting rhinos and elephants then. Shame. I fancied myself a nice cheetah pelt" The other replied, throwing his rifle over his back and heading off into the savanah.

Nova and Vex meanwhile were a little behind Zuberi. The new smells of the jungle clouded their nostrils and as they ran through the bushes and round the trees they began to lose his scent.

"Zuberi!" Nova called a little louder than she meant due to her poor hearing.

[Tsuki]

Zuberi jumped as he heard his name being called and he looked around him in confusion. Everything was so different and it unnerved him slightly. He could give himself an injury out here. And how was he suppose to get his revenge on the other lions if he was in here? And now he had started hearing things. This was no place for a Cheetah. But if he went back he would be at mercy to the hunters. If he went forward then who knew what dangers were out there. He didn't like this. He didn't like this one bit. But he knew that being on the ground was dangerous. He looked over at a small tree and carefully jumped up into the lower branches where he was concealed. He stayed stood up, watching the area. But what was he going to do?
