Soon enough they had gotten away, but the wounds that Zira had sustained caught up with her in the outlands. With the "tearful" death of their leader, the outlanders were at a stand off. At first, there was a little bit of conflict over the matter of who would be leader, but Baya did not want to be a part of it. Not anymore. It was clear to him this war would never end. One side would kill another, and the other side would only extract revenge later on. A never ending cycle.

Baya decided with Vitani, Nuka and Tupa that they would have to look elsewhere for prosperity. Though it bothered him greatly because there was such a high chance that one of them would die. Though, it was alot better than trying to fight for a land that would only be torn from their cubs later in life. And thus, a new journey had begun. One to find lands suitable for them.

In fits of passion and instinct, Baya had mated with Vitani and Tupa with Nuka. It was in the heat of passion this was done, as now they were in a situation where they had a time frame of completion. If they didn't find lands soon, their cubs would be born into the horrors of the desert. Baya was haunted by this idea.

As of now, the group was making their way across the hot desert, the buzzards circling them. Baya was sure to keep an eye on both Tupa and Vitani, as with them having the burden of pregnancy there was a danger to the cubs if they collapsed. "Baya, we need to find an Oasis. We've been traveling for days..." Tupa pointed out with a slight frown. "And I'm getting hungry..." Tupa murmured.

"We'll get to an Oasis sooner or later...and food is something we'll have to scavenge for..." Baya murmured in reply, looking over to Tupa. His concern then turned to Vitani, hoping she was ok.

[Applejack]

Vitani's eyes searched Baya's, attempting to let him know that she would make it. She would be strong for Baya, and would make sure that their cubs survived. Now that the two of them were closer than ever before, it was like she could read his thoughts, or so she thought. She knew it was just her mind acting up though, and she shook her head, walking close next to Baya. The weight of cub was already starting to show itself, and she knew instinctually that the cub pains would be starting soon enough. Her eyes blazoned with the fire of determination, she pushed on still, completely sure that she would survive no matter what, as long as she had Baya to support her and protect her during her time of vulnerability.

Nuka's eyes fell on Tupa and he smiled softly, pressing his flank against hers as he had so many times since the two had mated, making sure to let her know that he was going nowhere. He leaned up, whispering in her ear every now and then. This was no exception, as he leaned forward, a small purr his voice as his breath swept her neck and ears. "What shall we name the cub if it is a girl? How about a boy?" He smiled, trying to make all the smalltalk in the world he could, trying to keep Tupa sane. He knew that if they diddn't find some sort of Oasis soon, the cubs' early development would be anything but productive. Suddenly, his nose twitched as he raised his head. "Baya..." he said, sniffing again. "Is it just me, or do you smell something... watery? Leafy?" Nuka shook his head, trying to convince himself that it was just a mirage or a daydream playing on his senses, but the more he tried to forget it, the more the smells stood out. "Seriously," she said, "I think there's something close!"

[Baya]

Baya stopped, and sniffed the air too. "Water...and a lioness." Baya murmured, his eyes narrowing. Tupa looked to Baya, wondering what he'd do. He wasn't the same lion he was a few months ago. He was more tame and willing to negotiate as opposed to senselessly slaughter. "Press on." Baya muttered as they continued to walk.

Sure enough, they got to a medium sized Oasis with a lioness laying nearby. When Baya came into view she got on the defensive, but when she saw the others, she began to falter. It was clear that she could not win, so she trotted off in disappointment. "Power in numbers." Tupa murmured quietly as she made a small dash for the watering hole. She began to drink to her heart's content.

"Vitani. Drink." Baya said quietly, giving her a gentle nuzzle. There was a large palm tree that would provide them with some shade nearby as well. Tupa let out a gasp as she finished her drink and looked at Nuka.

"To answer your question, I really don't know yet Nuka. It's only been a week since we made it, so let's wait and see." Tupa said with a smile.

[Applejack]

Nuka smiled back and chuckled. "I'm asking too many questions again, arent I?" He said, shaking his head. He padded up next to Tupa, but diddn't take a drink. For some reason, he really wasn't thirsty, which he found oddly amusing. "Well, when I'm excited, I dont know... I ask. And, well, I think you know that by now," he finished, nuzzling her softly. "I'm just so excited.. so happy," he said. "Now we have a place to stay as well, so this is just perfect."

Vitani nuzzled Baya back for a second before slowly padding up to the watering hole. She shook her head as she passed Nuka. "Amature," she said, chuckling. She lay down gently and let her head rest in the water as she drank from it, drinking as much as she needed before getting up and motioning Baya over with her tail. "You too, tough guy," she said, smiling. "You need a drink too. You may have been Mr. Desert Lion at one point, but now, you're just like us."

For some reason, Nuka found that hilarious. He let his head tilt back in raccous laughter, chuckling hysterically. "I'm sorry," he said, looking at the two of them. "Its just... big Baya, he's like us now. He's one of the four. Its exciting and funny at the same time!" He ducked, shutting up instantly as a coconut flew his way. "Well fine," he said. "Someone obviously doesn't appreciate good humor!"

[Baya]

"If you weren't my brother in law, I would've killed you already." Baya murmured as he walked over to the watering hole and lowered his head for his own drink. The water was like sweet nectar to him, having not drank in several days. His heart warmed at the prospect of having changed, to belong to something besides conflict and battle.

"Baya, technically...we are a pride you know. Two lionesses...two lions..." Tupa pointed out with a smirk. Baya looked over at Tupa for a moment.

"We aren't a pride until we can find some suitable land. My cubs will not grow up in this hell hole." Baya said quietly as he looked to Vitani, hoping she was okay.

"Lay down." Baya murmured as he gave her a lick. "In the shade, it's better for you." Baya pointed out as he urge Tupa to do the same. Baya frowned as he looked to Nuka.

"Are you good to watch them while I go get some food?" Baya asked Nuka. He couldn't leave Nuka alone with them, because if they were attacked they needed a very skilled fighter. Nuka was probably better at hunting smaller prey anyway. Baya sat down near Vitani, and pressed his ear against her stomach. Though he could hear no heart beat, there were other sounds of life within her tummy. Sounds of growth, and hopefully healthiness.
