Fadhili looked at him while also putting one of her paws on her ears and trying to somehow ease the pain, but it only made it worse. She was so scared that her entire body was shaking.

Once she was on her own, Fadhili was more than tempted to run away and just leave the horrible group behind. However she didn't do it. What was the point? If she went back to her older pride then the male would find a way to get her back to him, either by threatening them with the cubs' lives or either by waiting untill he and his friends were adults and simply out-numbering them. It was too risky for her old pride that she didn't do it.
