A Change of Plans [PRIVATE: AC & The Whistlerify]

Uhuru would have been scared by Sarabi's outburst, but having seen her like that a few minutes ago, she wasn't affected at all. "I'm fine mom." she managed to mumble as her face got burried in her mother's fur.

--

Marini rolled her eyes at Sarabi's behaviour. For some reason she wasn't surprised at this, it was like she had known Sarabi as someone bad her entire life. But that didn't matter now, it would matter if she went and attack Tanga again. "Later Nala." she said and waved at her friend, before beginning to dig in herself

Sarabi wandered into Simba's nook, coming up to her son and nuzzling him gently. "Hey, Simba...you okay?" she asked gently, no trace of her earlier anger present. She truly cared for Simba, and her anger was a result of her protective nature over him. As she had told Tanga, she had already lost Mufasa...she was not going to lose Simba as well.

----------

Nala waved back as Marini said a brief goodbye, before heading for the ravine herself, feeling a little better after Sarabi's behaviour at the thought of spending some time with simba this evening. She just hoped there would be a way out of this mess that did not involve Simba having to take sides...she knew making such a choice would tear Simba apart.

----------

Kali managed to smile at her daughter, letting her go as she said she was fine. "Okay, sweetie. But...where's Tanga? You said you saw him...why isn'y he with you?"

"He said he wasn't hungry." Uhuru started, wonering what was Tanga doing now, "I think he's in our den now."

--

Simba was busy thinking over what Nala said when his mother came back to check on him. "Yes mom, I'm fine. Nothing's changed during the 10 minutes you were gone." he said, feeling rather tired of al the attention everyone was giving him since the accident. He couldn't guess what really happend with Tanga a few minutes ago, since his mother seemed to be pretty calm, and he wasn't going to get her mad by starting to talk about it

Kali sighed as Uhuru said that Tanga was in their den. "Is he okay? Sarabi didn't hurt him too badly, did she?"

----------

Sarabi gave a restrained sigh of relief. "Good...good..." she paused for a few moments, before realising that Simba seemed pretty irritated, and was probably tired. "Well, I'll leave you alone for now. If you need me, or if...anything happens...I'll be in the next nook over," she said, before giving her son another brief nuzzle. "I love you, Simba...I hope you understand that," she whispered, before leaving, heading to the nook right next to Simba's. It was not her usual sleeping place, but after today, she felt it was the right thing to do to protect Simba.

----------

Nala arrived at Simba's nook as Sarabi left. After watching her enter the next nook over, she wandered into Simba's nook. "Hey," she greeted through the mouthful of meat she was carrying for Simba, placing it down in front of him. "As I promised, your part of the meal." She lay down in front of him, noticing his irritated expression. "What's troubling you?" she asked, keeping her voice low to make sure Sarabi couldn't listen in.

Uhuru remembered that Tanga wasn't hurt bad, physically. "Yeah he's fine." Uhuru said, before remembering how hungry she was and taking a bite of the meat.

-

Simba sighed as his mother left, "I know. And nothing's going to happen to me." he added, again letting her know that he didn't think Tanga meant for all of this.

Simba forced a smile at Nala when she entered their nook, greeting him with the meat she promised to fetch him in her mouth. "Hey Nala." he said, slightly cheering up at her presence and grabbing the meat in his good paw, "Thanks." he said and took a bite, he hadn't eaten since yesterday and was quite hungry. But Nala managed to catch onto his irretation, despite his attempts of hiding it. "I was thinking about everything..." he said simply, in a low voice like Nala used, taking another bite and swallowing before speaking up again, "How's Tanga? Have you seen him?"

Kali gave Uhuru a look, showing did she did not quite believe that Tanga was completely fine, considering how Sarabi had been behaving, but eventually nodded and settled back into her meal. But soon another question reached her muzzle. "Hang on...why is he in our den?"

----------

"I haven't seen him," Nala replied to Simba's query, her voice going even lower, using emphasis on the first word to try and tell Simba that while she had not seen Tanga, there had been an incident regarding him at dinner.

Marini spoke up before Uhuru managed to swallow what was in her mouth to say anything else. She almost forgot this, "Yeah, about that..." she started, turning to face Kali and Busara, "Would you mind if Tanga and I moved into your den for a while? at least untill everything cools down a bit?"

--

Simba did notice Nala's emphasis on the word "I", but when it cames to catching onto clues like this, he didn't do really well. "Oh, Marini saw him." he said, again making sure he kept alow voice. "Wait, wasn't he just at dinner with everyone else?"

Kali turned to her mate quickly before answering...she figured he was okay with it, since, of the two of them, he was probably closer to Tanga, but she would give him the oppourtunity to correct her. "I'm perfectly fine with you two staying as long as you want," she said. "And I'm sure my mate agrees, but if I'm mistaken..." she trailed off, giving Busara his cue to say what he wanted.

----------

Nala sighed as Simba didn't quite catch on. She hoped she would not have to explain everything...he'd had a bad enough day as it was. "Actually...he wasn't at dinner...he never showed up at all..." she said hesitantly. "Uhh...something happened...before dinner..."

Busara was busy thinking over everything when he realised he hadn't said anything yet. "You two can stay for as long as you wish." Tanga was his son after all, and if he wanted to stay with his familly then he deserved to. And by how close Tanga was to Marini, Busara considered her being part of the familly two.

-

Simba got the feeling that what happend before dinner wasn't something he would like when he heard it. "What?" he asked, feeling like it included Sarabi somehow

Kali smiled at her mate, before turning back to Marini. "Look, I understand today been really rough, but I'm sure things will settle down eventually. Sarabi's just being protective...in a few days she'll come to her senses and things will go back to normal." She was not entirely convinced that this would happen, but she wanted to give Marini something to calm her down, and give her hope, knowing today would have been stressful for her...as it had been for pretty much everyone.

----------

Nala gave pained expression that was very obvious as Simba asked what happened. "I..." she tried to find the right words, but realised that there was no way of breaking this to Simba gently. She decided to give one shot at avoiding the subject, though. "Simba, look, you've had a bad enough day as it is...don't make me make it worse for you, please?"
