A Friend! (Private)

Kamari looked at all three, part of him said no, the other part said yes. The "no" side was gaining control when he tried to shake it out of his head. He cleared his throat. "I-...." he stopped, he couldn't find anything to come out of his mouth. He shook his head again, but only more blood came out of his marks. He couldn't stand the looks of all three staring at him without stop, he broke down and ran to the edge of the jungle in the exact same direction where Meila was. He stopped and sat down next to Meila, who had heard him coming. "Hi, Kamari." she said, giving him a nuzzle. "Ow! Don't do that." Kamari said, his scratches were still trying to heal. Meila smiled, "Then how about this side?" she said, giving him a kiss on his cheek. "Hey Kamari, I just noticed something about you." "What?" "You're a King Cheetah!" "What? What's going on? What am I?" Kamari looked at her completely clueless. Meila smiled, "A king cheetah is an extremely rare color mutation. Look at yourself, then look at me." Kamari turned his head to the side and looked at his beautiful fur with hieroglyphic markings on it. Then he looked at hers, which was just spots. He compared the two and was amazed. "Why did you tell me that right now when you could have told me earlier?" "Because look." Meila pointed to her mom and dad running towards them. "Meila!" Kamari's face went pale, "Uh, I'll be right back." He ran back to Simba. "Simba! I'm so sorry, I forgive you. Please forgive me for ripping half your blood out." Kamari's eyes were no longer burning red. "And Simba, can I ask you something?" Kamari pulled Simba aside for a private talk. "Meila's parents have come to get her, they found her and are coming to our the jungle. I was wondering....can I go back home with her? I can learn how to hunt there, and I can be adopted by her mother and father. I don't want to leave you...it's just....- complicated." Kamari tried to put a smile on his face. Kamari had went over this very quickly so Simba didn't even have time to respond.

Simba breathed a sigh of relief when at first, to his horror, Kamari ran off. But then suddenly he came back, back to his old self, willing to forgive Simba. But then the horror came back when Kamari explained his willingness to leave with Meila. Simba didn't have much time to think. Kamari, you're my best friend. I want you to be happy, but to end like this? I just don't think that it's such a good idea for you leave... I'll miss you so much. You were the only family I could relate with for most of my life. Please. Don't leave me...

Delano cautiously approached the two. Listen, Kamari, he said softly. I know that we didn't start on the best of terms. And we never really improved from there. But if this is goodbye, or isn't, are you wiling to start fresh? If it is goodbye, then if we ever meet again, to be able to start over?

Kamari looked at the two of them, thinking. And then Timon and Pumbaa walked over. Listen, if you want to go with the other one, follow your heart. In the end, we still have Simba. Pumbaa said smiling.

Simba still hoped that Kamari would change his mind, and choose to stay with them, even if for a few more days. Kamari, can you please think it over? A few days? There was desperation in his voice. Simba did not want to lose yet another friend.

Kamari smiled, "A week or two." he said. Simba smiled, "But let me go talk to Meila and her parents, I'll be right back." Simba nodded as Kamari smiled, turned and trotted towards the edge of the jungle where Meila was. She was talking with her parents. "Meila! Can I talk to you for a second?" Kamari pulled Meila aside. "My best friend, Simba, doesn't want me to leave with you guys, so, can you and your parents stay here for about another week or two and then I might be able to go home with you." Meila smiled. Kamari and Meila came back to Simba and discussed their time here, then the time they might leave. When Simba heard "A week or two" his face grew a smile. And Delano felt better too.
Timon was up now, "Kid, if you really wanna go now it's okay, but I do think you should stay another week or two." Timon smiled.

Simba smiled when Kamari agreed to stay for another few weeks, Simba smiled brightly. But then Kamari left to discuss it with Meila and Simba once again started praying hard. When Kamari came back with the good news,Simba almost jumped with joy. Almost. Instead, he leaped forwards and embraced Kamari in a deep hug. Thank you, Kamari! You have no idea how much this means for me. Simba said.

He suddenly pulled back, embarrassed, as though he realized what he had done. Sorry. he muttered sheepishly. Behind him, Timon and Pumbaa laughed quietly, Delano joining in.

Delano walked over. Seeing as we are starting fresh again, what about a proper introduction, then? he asked.

Oh, yeah, um.. Kamari, this is- Simba started, but was cut off by Delano, who was shaking his head.

No. No. I mean with everyone. Kamari, bring the girl over, and her parents. Let everyone get to know each other. Delano explained. He leaned down for Timon and Pumbaa. Try not to panic when a few more predators come over.

This time it was Simba's turn to laugh when Timon nearly fained yet again. Kamari didn't get to enjoy it: He was already running as fast as he could to fetch Meila and her parents.

"Hey guys! Come over here and let me introduce some of my friends to you!" Meila trotted up to him and rubbed up against him as they were walking towards where the rest of the groups were. "Okay guys, this is Simba, my best friend, then Timon, Pumbaa and Delano." Simba smiled as Kamari mentioned him first. Kamari gave a smile back. Meila's parents were pleased. "Hey, Simba!" Kamari pulled Simba over for a second, "Where can we talk these guys so they can stay for a few weeks? I was kind of thinking about our secret clubhouse room, but wanted you and I wanted to keep that secret right? So I don't know where we could let them stay for a few weeks."

Simba thought for only a moment. You know, our secret place is perfect for them. I don't really want to, but yes, show them where it is, and they can stay there for the duration of their stay. Kamari was about to turn around and show Meila's family where to stay when Simba stopped him. Kamari, I just wanted to tell you... well, thanks. Kamari smiled.

Kamari turned to show Meila's parents the place, when Simba called out again. Hey, Kamari, what about a hunting lesson afterwards?

Kamari stopped dead in his tracks and turned around. Simba gave him a smile, "Uh, I don't know Simba." Kamari was still being stubborn. "I'll talk to you about it once I finish getting them comfortable." Simba nodded and Kamari led the way to their secret room in the jungle. He lifted up that same branch that brought Meila and Kamari into it. He pulled back another branch and welcomed Meila and her parents into the room. When he got them comfortable, he started back to Simba and the rest of his group. As he was walking across the log to get to the steeper side, he fell into the river! Kamari splashed and spluttered, but managed to get to shore. He shook his fur, took a step, and to his luck, he stepped face to face with another crocodile. "Help. Me. HELP!!! SIMBA!!!" This crocodile was the biggest crocodile Kamari had ever seen in his life in the jungle. It let out a faint groan, basically saying "Get outta here or you're lunch."

Simba heard Kamari's cries fro help and bolted, Delano right behind him. I'm coming, Kamari! Just stay put! he shouted, hoping that Kamari was fine. The two ran to the river, where Kamari's voice was coming from, and spotted him, cornered against a steep bank by one of the biggest crocodiles in the area. Simba turned to Delano, panicked. I don't know if I can take this guy on, Delano! What should we do?

Delano looked down, analyzing. Kamari lost all calmness, crying out in all directions, and not seeing either Simba or Delano. Simba called down to assure Kamari, but the cheetah didn't seem to notice. Finally Delano made a plan. Simba, listen, he said, that crocodile is out of the water, but it can still fight. If you get in front of it and be a distraction, I'll jump on it and get rid of it. Got it? Simba nodded. Alright, on three. One, two, three!

Simba jumped down in between Kamari and the crocodile. The crocodile snapped angrily at him, then became even more infuriated as Delano landed on it's back, paws slamming down on its maw. Simba quickly glanced at Kamari and shouted Kamari, get out of here! It's not safe for you here!

Kamari seemed to regain some sense and bolted away. Simba waited for a good opportunity to strike at the crocodile, but couldn't do anything as the crocodile wrestled with Delano. Simba swatted a little at the crocodile, but he could do much.

Then suddenly, the crocodile managed to throw Delano off, and smash its heavy tail at the leopard. Delano was tossed aside, and didn't get up. Simba charged at the crocodile before it can turn, and swung a paw as hard as he can at it, claws out. This time, it was purposeful, and there was force behind the blow. The crocodile staggered back, and deciding that Simba wasn't worth it, sunk into the river and swam away.

Simba ran over to Delano. The leopard was breathing shallowly, knocked out, but he looked very bad. There was a nasty gash on his side where the tail smashed into him. Simba looked around for help, but couldn't find any. Help! Someone help! He called out.

Carefully placing Delano on his back, Simba walked along the edge of the river until he found a good place to get up the bank, and scampered up. Kamari and Meila's family burst through the jungle right as Simba set Delano down on the floor.

Kamari looked worried as Simba put Delano on the ground. Meila and her family had come out too. Kamari nudged Delano, but his eyes stayed closed. "Uh...Simba?" Kamari said, with a very upset look on his face. Simba exchanged a scared look in return. They both looked down at Delano, who was breathing but wasn't moving. Meila came up to Kamari and rubbed her head under his chin. Meila's mother, who knew a thing or two about this kind of stuff, came over and looked at Delano. "He's still breathing, but I think he broke his back leg and paw." she said. Delano's eyes suddenly opened and he took a deep breath. Kamari's and Simba's ears perked up.

Delano felt like his body was swaying, causing him to feel sick. Then the feeling turned out to be in his head, before it vanished completely. Delano groaned as he opened his eyes. At first, everything was blurry, and he had to blink a few times to be able to see even something clearly. He couldn't feel one of his paws, and one of his legs hurt terribly. His entire right side burned as if on fire. He groaned again as pain engulfed him.

That was when he realized that Simba was looking at him, along with Meila and her family. It took Delano a few moments to figure out why it made him uneasy. Where's Kamari? he managed to breath out. Somewhere from where Delano couldn't see, Kamari came into view, assuring the leopard that he was fine. Delano smiled softly. That's great. You okay, kid? He tried to get up, but a paralyzing wall of pain forced him to stop and settle on the ground. And because Simba forced him back on the ground.

Simba grunted. Who are you to ask how Kamari is? You should take a look at yourself! You got smashed by a giant crocodile, and you pretend that you are fine and ask how others are? This made Delano to laugh, then curse Simba due to the pain the shaking caused him. Simba quickly added, Meila's mother is looking you over. Kamari brought them here only a few moment ago.

Yeah, I guess your right. Delano took a deep breath to try and reduce the pain. He tried lifting his head to get a better view of his body, but still couldn't see much. How bad is it? No hiding anything, please. he asked. Meila's mother walked into view. She explained to him about his broken paw and rear leg. Delano grimaced. I was expecting worse, but it still sounds bad. It's going to take so long to heal... He laid his had on the ground, and closed his eyes as the pain became unbearable again.

Meila's mother gave Simba and Kamari a look that told them that they better leave temporarily. Simba lead Kamari and Meila into the jungle, and settled down on a fallen log. He saw Kamari's regretful face. It's not your fault, Kamari... he said.
