Delano let out a small yelp of surprise when Lina pushed him over, but then smiled as she lay next to him. Nuzzling her back, he thought of an idea. "Hey, listen, I think I know a way for us to communicate while I'm gone," he said. "Meeting physically might be hard to arrange, and might be dangerous as well, but this is our special place." he smiled. "We ca leave each other messages." Delano rubbed his head against Lina. "What do you think?"

Lina rested her head against Delano's chest, purring at the warmth his mane provided, even though she wasn't cold at all. She raised her head and curiously listened to what Dleano said as he suggested that they left each other messages. Of course that she would love to be able to communicate with him. The only question was how was Delano planning to do this. "I love that idea." she said, rubbing her head against his, "But I don't understand how are we going to pull this off... What sort of messages and how?" she was obviously eager to hear more.

Delano frowned. In his excitement to tell her of his idea, he forgot to think of how to actually implement it. "Oh, yeah..." He rubbed his head nervously as he though. "Well, when Muroki and I left the first time, we were told that there is already a system to do that... I think it was called writing. You scratch these things on the ground or a rock, and if you know how, you can understand what the scratches mean..."

He thought about the idea some more. "It might be useful if we all learned how to write. Might be hard though."

Lina couldn't help but chuckled as Delano frowned all of a sudden, having probably not thought of a way for them to actually pull his idea off. "Well, I don't think that the police has time to teach us..." she thought for a few moments, "Well, we don't really have to learn how to write now that I think about it." despite the urge not to, she got up and walked over to where there was no grass. "We can just make something up on on our own. We can decide that a certain shape that will mean a certain thing." she said, looking at him with a smile. That way only they will be able to understand the messages each of them left for the other.

"Oh, yeah we can do that..." Delano said. "But how will we remember what means what? And what if I realize that I need to say something that we haven't thought of after I leave?" He was starting to realize how hard such a system would be to create, but he still did not want to abandon this idea.

Walking over to Lina, Delano looked at the bare patch of ground. "Alright, let's start trying some things out. See how it will go." He scratched out a single short line. "Not much, but it's easy to do. So I think this should be something we will use a lot..."

Lina looked at the line Delano drew, thinking. "Well, we don't really need to have a deep conversation or something." she said, chuckling. "We can decide only on things we might need to tell each other. Like... A shape you'll use which says that you're alright and that you're not hurt, I'll have a shape meaning that I saw your message, you can use it too. And maybe a good shape for Kasi and a bad one so you can know how he's doing, and two for your brother too. We can have a few, but it doesn't have to be more than that." it shouldn't be something so complicated, just a few things so that she can know he was alright and the other way around. "And most important, we need a shape for you that will say that you think you'll be able to come back soon." that would be the shape she would be the most happy to see.

Delano nodded. "Yeah, I think that'll work better," he admitted, looking at his line. Next to it, he scratched out a rough circle. "Well, this can mean that I'm fine. It's a whole circle, to show that I am whole. He drew a few more circles, and inside of those, he drew a smaller circle to signify Muroki, a triangle for Kasi, a square and a line for Kasi's parents, and finally, inside the last circle, Delano drew two lines crossing each other. "This is for you, Lina. To show that you're well."

He used the same scratches, but under a half circle to show that someone is hurt. "That looks about right," he said, thinking. "Should work." His gaze fell back to the original line he drew. At first, he thought of just wiping it off, but then he got an idea.

Delano reached out and scratched three more lines crossing his first one, and finished with a shape resembling a star. "This star will mean that I will return," he said, smiling.

Lina carefully looked at the shapes Delano drew, memorizing them in her mind. A simple circle for Delano, a smaller circle for Muroki, a triangle for Kasi and a square and a line for Kasi's parents. "Alright... So those ones with only half a circle mean the exact opposite." she said, more to herself so to memorize it better. She looked at the star and smiled, "I certainly hope I'll be able to see that one soon." She went ahead and drew all the shapes they decided on by herself, again to remember them better. Smiling, she also went ahead and scratched out the shape of a heart. "I don't need to explain this one to you right?" she asked, nuzzling him with a giggle.

Looking at the heart, Delano really wished that there was no need for this system. That this was all a bad dream. But it wasn't, and he knew it. Delano smiled, rubbing his head against Lina's. "No, you don't," he said, "but I'd still love to hear you say it."

Lina giggled, also rubbing her head against Delano's. "It means that I love you." she said happily. It was the first time she was saying those specific three words to him but it felt as if it was something she would tell him every day. "I think I'll leave you one of those whenever I see a message from you." suddenly she thought of something, "But... How often do you think you'll be able to leave a message?" it could take a day or even weeks between messages, and during that waiting time she would not know whether Delano was just without time on his hands or whether he would never come back.
