(Lazy to do it now XD)

Mganga, out of curiosity, appeared and looked at Rangi. "Well, it could be just cub blue and it'll change over time, a disease, or even a sign." The jackal barked, and that's really when Faraja flipped out.
"What if it's a curse?! Does she have powers? Will she kill Kuruka? We have to keep them separate!"

[xD]

The pale lion recoiled at his mate's outburst. "They're just blue eyes!" he exclaimed, finding nothing wrong with them other than their slight strange occurrence, considering his and Faraja's eyes. He flicked back his ears. What was the matter with her? Maono glanced over to the jackal healer and hoped they could convince Faraja not to do anything crazy. But she was unpredictable. And he felt a little niggling doubt in the back of his mind. What if the blue meant something? It was unusual in the pride, but he'd seen multiple other blue-eyed lions when he'd lived as a rogue.

Kuruka wriggled a little and decided it was time for her eyes to open. She blinked the world into focus, staring around and matching colors to scents. Maono looked at her. "Violet." he murmured. He'd only seen purple eyes once before. "How did they get these colors? What if they both have unusual futures?" he rambled. His parents had neither blue or purple eyes, so perhaps the colors came from Faraja's side of the family.

"There's something wrong!" Faraja exclaimed when she saw Kuruka's eyes. "Mganga, what's wrong with them?"
"They're healthy!" Mganga argued. "They're lively, they're talkative and they're fat. Exactly what lion cubs should be."
Faraja looked at Maono, tears in her eyes.
"What did we do?"

He shook his head slowly. "I don't know," he muttered gruffly, pretty much ignoring Mganga. Maono gazed down at the two cubs. "Perhaps...we should separate them. This could be a sort of sign." The lion lashed his tail, agitated. With a heavy sigh, he gave Faraja a gentle nudge of affection.

Faraja nuzzled her cubs. "I'm so sorry, little ones." She said, then looked at the jackal. "Take Rangi away. I'll visit her and I'll nurse them separately."
"It's less of a risk to keep them together." Mganga barked.
"I don't want them to hurt each other like hyena pups do." Faraja reasoned.
With a shrug, the canine picked up Rangi and took her to a hidden part of the cave.
But not without struggle. Rangi kept wiggling in Mganga's grasp.
No! But I'll be cold...

Maono frowned slightly and watched in silence as Mganga grasped Rangi and disappeared from sight. The other cub let out a faint cubbish growl and burrowed against Faraja, too little to understand the seriousness of the situation. Maono glanced down at her, then shrugged. "There's something about them..." he muttered quietly, shaking his head. For some reason, he couldn't find that fatherly love that he'd felt initially...it'd gone.

(Yeah, sure.)

Rangi sighed and walked back in the bush, curling up and sighing. She hated being elusive and couldn't go train with her friend Faragha or her assigned mentor Witiva until dark. But when dark came, the rogues would come and kill everyone and take Kuruka. And then maybe she could finally get to know her sister. Her whole life was spent sitting there watching Kuruka chase invincible butterflies and play with herself. Neither of them were getting the social skills they needed.

The cub skittered away from the claws of Nyasi. A fresh trio of scratches adorned her shoulder. She turned away, eyes dark. She heard the young lioness cackle softly before flouncing away, sleek and casual. Kuruka stared after her, her expression stoic. She'd stopped feeling sorry for herself. Someday, she'd get back at Nyasi. But she was nothing now. To no one. Although she was well aware of a presence close by. It had been present many times, but she'd not bothered to investigate. The spotted cub dug her claws into the ground and bit her tongue until it bled. Then she stood up stiffly and trotted back in the direction of the pride--it was getting dark out.

She slid underneath a bush, ears pricking. Something was amiss. Then, out of nowhere, a screech shattered the calm, still air.
