Kopa nodded. "Well, those days are over and your mother is dead, never to bother us again. It's time we started thinking of our future and our kingdom. We have much to do," he said.

Just then, Rafiki appeared, seemingly from nowhere. "Greetings, your majesties. I want to be the first to give my condolences regarding King Simba and Queen Nala, and also my congratulations on your rise to de throne," he said.

Vitani again smiled, "Yeah, we should look forward to our future..." at the mention of the word future she wondered not only about their duties as king as queen. Before she could think about that any further, she heard Rafiki's voice and, after greeting him with a slight bow, said. "Thank you, it's very nice that you came."

Rafiki nodded. "I wanted to be sure dat you two were all right after what happened. For as long as I still can, I will serve you two. You have de potential to be great rulers. Try hard and do not falter," he said.

Vitani smiled and again gave the mandrill a slight bow, "Thank you."

Kopa took a look out at the lands. "Well, I've got to go out on patrol for a bit. Vitani, I will see you after awhile," he said, gently licking her cheek and nuzzling her before heading off.

Rafiki waited until Kopa was out of sight. "Your highness, I want to bring dis to your attention. De great kings and queens have told me that you and Kopa will face a great trial soon. A menace from de past will come here," he said.

Meanwhile, only a few miles from the border of the Pridelands territory, stalked Kali. Kali was a very large lion, lots of muscle and some say the sharpest claws around. The male lion had recieved information, that his daughter, Vitani, was here. Vitani was his daughter, so he only thought it right that she should come with him.

Anyone who wants to stand in his way...watch out.

Kopa was hard at work patrolling the Pridelands, completely unaware of the current threat that his pride faced. He passed the usual sights: elephants plucking grass with their trunks and eating it, giraffes eating from the treetops, cheetahs looking for prey from the tops of termite mounds, leopards lounging in the tree branches, crocodiles lazing around on the riverbank and so on. He had no idea that a threat was soon to come.

Finally, Kali saw the infamous structure they all called Pride Rock. He smirked to himself and kept walking, now knowing he was in the territory. He wasn't nervous, his terrifying look was even enough to make the elephants look weary.

Within the Pridelands, the former follower of Zira named Dotty had gone out into the Pridelands to scout for potential prey for the impending hunt. While walking, she saw the male and recognized him instantly: he was Kali, the lover that Zira had taken following the death of Scar. He was also the father of Vitani. She carefully approached him. "What are you doing here?!" she demanded.

It took Kali a moment to realize who this was. He then grinned, however, it wasn't a nice grin,
"Ahh, Dotty, last time I saw you, you were smaller!". He laughed for a moment, "What am I doing here you ask? Well...I've come to seek out my daughter....". He stepped threateningly close to Dotty, "And do you know where she is?".
