Kovu wadded out of The Waterhole, following his friend. He lied down in the patch of warm grass next to Simba. Kovu was feeling a bit cold from the water, and he was relived to get out of it. He streatched out his body, and cuddled up next to Simba. He gave Simba a smile, and licked his friend's fur gently.
"Of course I will be there to help you out Simba. I will always be here for you, and we will be buddies forever!"
Kovu scowled at himself for saying that. Still, he knew with every nerve in his body that he was telling yet another cold lie to his best friend. A part of him said it was OK, since Simba didn't know. The other part felt as if it were beating Kovu to a pulp, asking him why he would dare let another lie slip out of his muzzle. Kovu then shook the thoughts out of his head, and gave Simba another lick on his golden yellow colored pelt.
"Sounds like a plan, Simba! And I don't think my parents will mind at all! When do you want to go ask your father?"
Kovu asked Simba, trying to sound happy, and hiding his real feelings deep inside of him. He hoped that Simba wouldn't find out on how he was truly feeling, because that would mean that he would have to tell him the truth.
