Let me get straight to the point. I want to run away from my pride. I know what I'm gonna take, I know where I'm gonna go, I don't know whether or not to. "Why do you want to run away KTM?" you may ask. Well, my pride doesn't like me. I'm just so different. My parents hit me a lot when I do something wrong, my brother and sisters hate me and make fun of me, I don't have any friends at school, I don't like it. It's basically like seeking solace. There is only one question that really bothers me. "About how long will it take for a 13 year-old lioness that is out of shape to run from Southwest Missouri to New Jersey if she can run 1 mile in 11 minutes 13 seconds without stopping?" What's the answer to that? I don't know, math isn't my strong suit. But please help me out with whether or not to run away from my pride. I'm really lost. Please help.

what kind of job are you going to get when you get there, i cant think of any companys that will hire a 13 year old...*check your page* girl... and thats about 700 miles away it whoudl take you at least 6 days if you ran 24/7 is you count in 15 hours of sleeping and resting thats about 15 days. And anyway you dont think that the cops will be wondering when they pass by a girl on the interstate. if you had your drivers licence and you were old enough to get a job then you whould have a much better chance. I think you whould have the best chance to escape the life your in, is to go to the cops and say that your parents hit you. Just one question: Why New Jersey?

No, just no.
Don't even consider this crap for a second. Running away is not only beyond insane, it's illegal (border crossing, plus without a supervising adult??). Not to mention extremely dangerous. Heck, you could be kidnapped, get lost, robbed, run out of food/water, etc, plus, from your description you don't even seem to know the exact destination you're headed, or how you'll get money. You wanna be a hobo or something?
And of all places you choose to run away to, why oh why New Jersey? I mean, really? NEW FREAKING JERSEY?? I live there, and I personally do NOT recommend it. First off, it smells. We've got gangs, sex offenders, psychopaths, and some of the most dangerous cities in the US. No, you do not want to be here, unless you want to die lol. If you want to run away somewhere safe and crimefree, try Canada. xD
If you're being "abused" by your parents as you say, I suggest you call the police or something if it's really that serious. Otherwise, suck it up >.> As for not having any friends.. well, sorry but you're just gonna have to live with that.

Amanda has actually got a very good point, if you did feel like you HAD to run away id suggest a small town in the north west, if you can stand the cold, i personally live in Fargo North Dakota and theres low (if any) crime.

And Amanda its Missouri to New Jersey... what border crossings?

I meant state borders lol. Sorry, should've been a little more specific. XD
According to Wikipedia, "Federal law forbids crossing state lines or international borders with a person who is under 18".

I have no idea where you found that law on but when i looked i found: "no government approval is required to move between states (with the exception of convicts on parole)." tecnically that doesnt disprove what you said but ive never seen anyone get stoped because they travels acros the state border.
Here we have a bride that connects minnisota and north dakota and people cross it all the time, and even out where theres nothing ive never seen a sign that says "it illegal to cross the border if your under 18".

About a full day and a half of non stop running at that pace, if you're out of shape too... Well it'll be longer. I'd say it would take a good few days tbh.
But that's not the point, the point of this thread is you're asking us if we think you should run away. And to awnser that, heck no! No matter how bad things seem, do you want to be fully lost , possibly attacked or even worse on top of that? Plus if your parents alert authorities, you may go through all that just to be returned Home about half way through (if even that).

And have you even tried any other alternatives? Because it sounds to me like at the first sign of life being a tad unfavourable, you decide to make a run. There's other more rational alternatives, why not try some clubs at your school? Join ones that you might be interested in and you could make some new friends, which would keep you away from your parents aswell as taking care of the social side of things (I get bummed out a bit, if I don't see my friends for ages).
If you try to fix it, and it doesen't work, try again and again. If you run away, do you think it's ever going to get any better? Sorry if I seem a bit up in arms about this, this kindof thinking truly annoys me, I have bad experiences , not thinking myself of this sort of thing but friends that have felt this way or similair.

Uh yeah.. I don't consider this a very good idea. Just like what the others said. It would be way to dangerous. You are only 13 years old, and I have no idea what just brought this up. I mean you had a good life earlier. I doubt your siblings REALLY hate you. My siblings act like this all the time. And deep down we all know we still love each other. Just try to get along with them, it may be hard, but I know you can do it.

As for your parents, it is against the law to hit a child, elsewhere. But if it's for discipline, I don't believe it is illegal. If you did something wrong then I guess they can hit you all they like. But if you did something wrong on accident, don't think they have the right to. All in all, if you really can't take their abuse anymore, try calling DHS. (Department Of Human Services). But I doubt they're hitting you that hard, I mean.. if it's just a little slap, it shouldn't affect you too much... that er.. you wanna run away. >.>

As for having "no friends at school", I have to live with this too. ._. I don't complain, I'm always sitting at the lunch table alone every other day, I'm in a class where absolutely nobody wants to be my friend. It's life. There are some people out there who are selfish human beings, and some that aren't. That is why we have to make friends. Make some, if you clearly do not have one single close friend in your life. Be yourself, and don't let anyone get in your way.

I honestly agree with what has been said above. Now I'm nit American or Canadian or anything relate to them so I can't realy say much, but there are orginisations out there that can help you, that will protect you.
It is part of the Universal Decelaration Of Human Rights, that a child (which is what most of us are still classed as) to have an education and to be safe at home and at school, I these are being broken by anyone, they can be met by sevear fines and imprisonment, I'm not saying that you should get your parents put into prision, but what I am saying is going to an orginisations and reporting the problem anonomusly, they can help you, as if you want it, so can I, privately and annonoumsly.

I dunno, New Jersey was the first place to come to mind! Plus my top 3 choices were New Jersey, California, or Alaska. Which is closer? :thoughtful3: And I didn't say I'd run away right NOW and my parents only use physical action when I do something very bad, like spit on my brother. Like I said, I didn't say I'd run away NOW I was considering it when I was 16 or when I get my drivers license. Oh, I have so much work to do. I'm in guitar club at my school and it's fun and that's where my supposed friends talk to me. But otherwise, nada. I never heard of any of those laws, but I will consider looking it up.
