My current answer needs improvement!

What led the failure of the democratic government in Japan? EYA
The failure of the democratic government in Japan was mainly due to the failure of democratic leaders to solve economic problems. However there are other factors such as reputation damage to democracy and the Diet’s limited power.

The failure of democratic leaders to solve economic problems is a factor of the failure of democratic government in Japan. Japan suffered from many problems with the agricultural population having little land to farm for their livelihood and workers suffering with laborious conditions in addition there was trade imbalance which put a further strain the Japan’s economy as it was losing more than it gained causing its population to lose their trust in democratic leaders resulting to their failure. For example, Japanese democratic leaders could not counter the protectionism that strike on Japan causing its economy to worsen and its people to lose their importance as they had nothing to export from the silk from the farmers to the incredibly low prices of factory goods which caused the breakdown of democratic trust in Japan. As a result, people became poor as they had little to depend on or even nothing at all for income generating anger within the local population for democracy and its leaders as they failed to solve Japans economic problems for which became a factor leading to the fall of democratic government in Japan.

Reputation damage from corruption is another factor that led to the failure of democratic government in Japan. Corruption was rampant in the Diet with powerful large companies called Zaibatsus which use their close ties to gain political power for their benefit. For example, Zaibatsus sponsored certain democratic leaders and use that influence to manipulate them to make government laws that will benefit the Zaibatsus. As a result, political parties grew distrustful of each other and sabotaged each other to eliminate using Zaibatsus as an excuse making it difficult for the local Japanese to trust democracy or give their support for which is a factor of the failure of democracy in Japan.

The Diet’s limited power was another factor which leads to the failure of democratic government in Japan. The Diet had little power and could not make decisions and often went unheard the Emperor and his ministers which were mostly retired Japanese statesman had most of the power and the Diet were mere nobles of spokespersons for the Japanese common folk. For example, the Diet members were made up of mainly the house of Peers and the Representatives in which both could only voice their concerns and most likely go unheard and the house of Representatives was even subjected to being disbanded anytime thus casting away the voices of the people as the House of Representatives where made of people chosen by the citizens. As a result, citizens had no say or anyone to represent their wishes as they went unheard and found democracy an unfair governance as the power of making laws and regulations was never given to them to say for which became a factor of the failure of democracy in Japan.

The failure of democratic leaders in solving economic problems was the most important reason of the failure of democracy in Japan as it gives a very heavy negative impact on the civilians views of democracy which they could have controlled if the democratic leaders have not been so selfish to maximize its benefits in the upper class trading the quality of lives with the local Japanese in contrast to the Diet’s limited power which although left a heavy negative impact as civilians felt they were unimportant, was not as heavy as the failure of democratic leaders to solve economic problems as it was not as controllable due to Japan monarchy history but also could have been salvaged if the representatives of the people had their say. Unlike the limited Diet’s power and failure of democratic leaders to solve economical problems, the reputation damage from corruption was of least importance of failure in democracy as it could not be controlled by the government making it impossible to stop as Zaibatsus were the rich of the Japanese people who seized power for selfish reasons and where satisfied with their say in governance in contrast to the other factors where people never got a chance to even set any footing on politics thus making corruption the least important factor due to the little impact it has compared to the rest of the other factors.
