Actually somewhat good right now.
Weeks ago, I sent my resume to someone my dad knows. On Friday, my dad told me they finally looked at it and said it's the best resume they've ever seen. Considering my lack of interviews, I didn't believe it. But I've spent literally hundreds of hours working on that damn resume, so I thought maybe it is true. Either that, or perhaps the guy just hasn't seen many resumes.
Later that day, I got an automated email saying that I am actually qualified for a position that I applied to. That's not something that's happened before, so I was pleasantly surprised. Apparently, I will be contacted "If an interview is needed." Maybe I can expect that to happen soon.
Then on Saturday night, I missed a call from someone regarding one of the other positions I applied to. So, I went back to look up what the position and company were, as well as what I'd noted from that opening. This was one that I was confused about and didn't expect to get: the title of the job was listed as "manufacturing engineer I," but the description seemed to be asking for a mid or senior level engineer. I applied anyway because... well, what the hell, why not.
I thought that one might have been a mistake--either in the position title, position description, and/or the phone call that I got. So, I was keeping my expectations low. Today, I called the guy back. I was going to ask him about what kind of candidate they were expecting, but I didn't have to. I called him at a bad time so he didn't have my resume in front of him, but he specifically mentioned things that he'd read on it. I didn't have to remind him who I was or what position I'd applied for; he already knew. He was reaching out to everyone who'd applied, and he read my resume thoroughly and remembered me.
That was basically a phone screen interview, and I was told I may or may not get selected to schedule an in-person interview next week.
TL;DR: after a month of continuous disappointment and bad news, I finally get some good news three days in a row.
Oh my gosh, that's awesome!! Congrats bud, hope you get one of those jobs.
