The best thing that`s happened to animation.

I have seen Toy Story 3 twice in the theater now, and I`m speechless. The three movies make probably the greatest movie trilogy there is, in any genre. Toy Story 2 was in a league of its own the best Disney sequel, and with the last one they made it perfect.

If you can count the 3 Lion King movies as a trilogy, I must conclude that the Toy Story trilogy wipes the floor, chews up and spits out the 3 TLK movies, as a whole. The first TLK movie is the only one that measures up to the super high quality of the Toy Story movies.

Actually, my favorite scene in Toy Story 3 is during Buzz`s spanish mode, when he sees Jessie for the first time. It`s almost worth going to the theater a third time just too watch that. Seeing a movie on a huge screen, and in 3-D, is special you know.

LOTR, and Star Wars could easily wipe TS off the map from the greatest movie trilogy. But yes, TS is a very amazing movie, and I've loved it ever since I saw it in theaters when the second one first came out.

I have the Lord of the rings trilogy on blu-ray. Although it`s most likely the ultimate epic adventure series, it does have some severe flaws. The romance between Arwen and Aragorn is very unnecessary, and kinda rushed. She`s willing to choose a mortal life for him, like the ultimate sacrifice, but there`s way to little screen time for them together to let us really feel their love.

Merry and Pippin are a little over the top, kinda like Timon and Pumbaa in Simba`s pride.

I`m very familiar with both the Star Wars and Lord of the rings trilogies, and I think the Toy Story trilogy is just as good.

Well to be fair, Star Wars is the best of Sci-fi, and Lord of the Rings is the best of... Well whatever the heck genre those films are.
Saying Star Wars is better than Toy Story is like saying, Metallica make better music than 50 Cent. It's subjective, and an irrelevant example that will amount to prefference in genre and not alot more.

Anyway, I also quite like these films. Actually, the bit where Buzz is actually flying in Toy Story after the rocket blows up is regarded as a fantastic moment in cinema history. (Yes strange but hey, Del Trotter leaning on a bar that isn't there and thus falling through it, is apparently the greatest comedy moment ever).
Quality is indeed what makes these films a sucess, the voice acting is great, and the animation / art direction is fantastic, the world really come alive well in Toy Story films, it captivates audiences and that is ideally what animation should be doing.
I really don't think that it's fair to compare them to TLK: TLK 2 and 3 were straight to VHS / DVD releases, that many fans of the original do not even know of still, believe that or not.

Infact I don't think they should be compared to anything really, they are just good films, originating from a time where animated movies were actually good, the difference being they have maintained the high standard that the first one set, which is more than could be said from some other series.
