Here are some reassuring facts:
1) Trump did NOT win the popular vote. America DID pick Hillary by a slim margin. However, Trump won the Electoral College. Which, as an American, I find it pretty dumb that this can (and obviously has) forced us to have a president the majority didn't want.
2) Only a vocal minority of Trump supporters are bigots. I agree that it's an alarming and ugly minority, but it's still a minority nonetheless. While Trump has said horrible things, there was also some appealing stuff in his platform. Stuff that, should he pull it off, would create more jobs for Americans. I think a lot of his supporters don't agree with the hate he spews, and know his bigger promises (such as the stupid wall) are unlikely to happen. But his smaller promises just might, and they're appealing. The other set of supporters like him simply for the fact that he is a wild card. He's not the usual career politician we're used to, and after the failure of things like Reaganomics and a lot of stagnation, people want someone who will shake the system up. Keep in mind, most of his supporters are of the older crowd who have been around long enough to experience such failures.
3) While Trump spews a whole lot of problematic things, Hillary isn't much better. She has done some very bad things in the past. I encourage everyone, especially those outside the US, to familiarize yourselves with Hillary's shady history. I still think she was the better choice despite this, but when you're trying to choose the "lesser of two evils" it definitely doesn't make it any easier.
4) Vladimir Putin has a history with Hillary, and it ain't a good one. With Hillary wanting to bomb Syria which would probably provoke a war, it's possible we dodged a pretty major bullet here. I know it sounds crazy, but who knows, Trump may end up as better in the long run because of this. It all depends on how things go.
