I know I could really use the money, but I'm glad they took me off the schedule for Thursday. That day was going to be a logistical nightmare over three hours of work.

We can't afford to buy a new car, much less a new house. What in the hell are we gonna do?

Holy Christ, dude. :thoughtful2: Didn't you say your dad was meeting with a lawyer? Sounds like you need one, to me... FFS. Best of luck. :hug2:

^ He has been working with one, yes, but it was the only one we could afford and we've begun questioning the legitimacy of this lawyer because he told us some things that weren't true it turned out and that he should have known better than. Not to mention from what we've been looking at today, it will be much less expensive to actually buy another house and another car than to try to stay in this one. Of course that's still no easy feat...

There's literally one house available that could possibly work and it's just down the road from here, so we're gonna look into that and see if it's really a viable option, but we have to wait until later in the week when my dad returns from work so he can do that stuff. He's the only one with any legal power here since the house belonged to his dad and he "inherited" this pile of debt.

Wow, I'm shocked that I wrote this. Today on the bus a kid who's that little thug miscreant type sat by me since there where no seats left, and took out a picture and looked at it sadly. I almost freaking cried and hugged him. Here's what I wrote

"When you see that one boy, the one who everyone calls bad names because he swears and tries sneaking food from kids, not to mention steals and gets away with it. That one kid who talks nasty and seems like a total jerk. What if I told you that boy had a book, and inside that book he used a picture for his bookmark? A bookmark with the picture of a mom, dad, and two little boys. Thats the family he used to have, now his brother was separated and the mom and dad gone. He looks at his picture with sad eyes every time he reads his favorite book, and knows his family won't ever be full again. Today, I saw that first hand. That one kid who everyone hated on, and only knew for being a thief and a liar, sat next to me because the seats were full, took out his book, and pulled out a picture of a family. That was his family that he took for granted because he never knew how much they really meant to him. He stared at it before putting it back in his book, and acted like nothing happened. I saw what was a broken kid, shielding himself with whatever was necessary. Please, take a good look at that one bully you're school, or that one kid who lies and steals, because looks can be very deceiving. So please, don't judge a book by its cover, because whats inside could be all the difference... "

:guilty: Poor kid, i felt so bad for him

Getting a second job was great... I think. :/ Going to be interesting to see how I fit both of them around senior level school work though. :kionugh:

That really sucks. :/ Honestly it sounds like that might be the better option at this point. But I'm not an expert in this sort of thing.

Hope you're all able to escape without, like, a bazillion in debt though. :hackingcough:

One of the places that filed a claim is the funeral home who did my grandfather's funeral. Their bill is about $9K and that's only one of the things we'd have to pay off completely in order to even get this place in our name and not my grandfather's. I don't know how much the other claim is, but I do know once those are paid and the house is in our name, we'd still owe about $100K on it, and it's falling apart and has the mice... Meanwhile, it would be somewhere in the neighborhood of $4500 for a down payment on the house down the road and another car, and that place doesn't have mice... So yeah, my mom and siblings and I are convinced we have to somehow get that house.

Since the claims were filed against my late grandfather's estate and not us personally, the worst they can do (if I understand right) is take his stuff from us—meaning this house. So if we go to a different house, we just have whatever debt was already ours, and the other house costs only $40K, not over $100K. We just have to convince my dad now that fighting for his childhood home is only going to cost us and convince someone to give us a loan to buy the place with...

Yay. :tired:
