It's kind of a miracle that Riley and I work so well, considering relationships usually go horribly for me. I think part of the reason is he keeps pretty busy throughout most of the day, and is fine text-chatting on Skype at night. One of the worst things for me is when I'm dating someone and they want to talk on phone or webcam all the time. It just gets exhausting, plus I'm the type to want to be in my own world more often than not. I like watching videos on YouTube whenever I want, or playing a game, or listening to music, etc. I just start to get sick of being around the other person when they expect me to devote hours and hours of my day solely to talking to them.

If it was just that, I wouldn't have given up completely, tbh I think it's probably easier for us bi folks, as we're open to male or female forms. Just mean dating in general is a right pain in the flank, and considering all the many other... difficulties, I've simply decided it's more trouble than it's worth. If something comes along one day, well I'll be shocked as all hell, but I'd be open to it, certainly. I've just given up on expecting to one day find something. It's stressful to think about. Very much so. Being happy is nigh on impossible for me anyway (I mean, I'm happy with who I am, but I am not happy about other things about me and likely to never be) so no point in making myself even more unhappy thinking about something that's probably never gonna be. :P

I think that, no matter what, if you're in the act of actively looking for another person, you're going to have a bad time.

The only lasting relationships seem to be those that happen by accident, or just as a happy consequence of some other action. If you're actively looking for a significant other... it just doesn't work. It's not like shopping for a new TV where you can just go to the store and eventually decide to pick one that fits your needs.

I completely agree with you, there. An active search seems to make it, well..."forced". :?

Even in accepting cultures, it can be hard, IMO. It's quite true that there are many gay people who make the decision to never come out nor act upon their true feelings mainly because they are incapable of dealing with the struggles it brings and that, by itself, 'lowers' the 'number of available people'. I mean, everyone gets tired of people whose main task apparently is putting their noses in someone else's business and/or try to make their lives a living hell. :/

Yeah, I never really went out of my way to look for anyone. In fact, I used to really just kind of expect that I wouldn't end up being in a relationship.

My one relationship happened on accident and I was really happy in it, especially since I still got a lot of time to myself, but it ended completely randomly and for no reason, so... yeah, don't know what to do there or if I'd be able to trust the other person if something like that came my way again. Because apparently it's a thing for people to just leave without warning and I don't want to be invested in something like that.

Either way, I'd rather not worry about it. I've always been fine being by myself anyway - I'm just kind of reverting back to my original plan which was to stay alone.

Yeah, I feel that. Most of my family probably wouldn't support me being with someone who wasn't male.

Not that I'm really that close with most of my family anyway but I just don't want to deal with that, tbh.
