@Marizzle

I wasn't insulting anyone, I originally meant it was abhorrent that the book glorified relationships like that and portrayed them as 'sexy' and that's what the whole thing is about.

Well, I'd imagine because one focuses on it and glorifies it and the other has it there along with other stuff? I'm not defending GoT in any way, I don't even watch it btw. :P

Also thank you for the far more reasonable reply.

I shouldn't have mentioned that I like the action in the first book. That just put me even more on Dad's bad side. :kionoops:

Yup, the problem here is that clueless teens are definitely gonna be curious and read it, and want a relationship just like the one presented because they don't know any better. It's just saddening that it has to happen in the first place. Of course it's not like abuse is gonna stop if the book is gone, but it's just saddening knowing that people have been and will be affected by it negatively.

Maybe there should be a compromise of a mandatory note somewhere in media explaining that the contents are not healthy.

This wasn't supposed to get heated, sorry. I just have a friend who ended up being stuck in an abusive relationship like the one potrayed in that book and it really hits a nerve with me.

Yeh, it's totally okay tho. I'm the one who sould be apologizing tho, I just got pissed because people judge me for reading books with stuff like "mature content" or even that have some kind of "abusive relationship" in the middle :/
It's not like I aprove the books, especially after seeing that parents let their children read books like FSoG.

But I do share some point with you tbh :?

I read books with vampires. MAYBE THEY EXIST
Just kidding.

You should never base your relationship in this stuff, it's not even about the helicopter. Which, btw, is a cool one

Mature content ish:

Spoiler: show
As mentioned, the problem with FSOG is that it gives the wrong portrayal of BDSM and almost makes the way Grey treated Anna acceptable....which it isn't at all.

In GOT rape happens but it isn't seen as a good thing at all. It's bad. And if you are referring to a certain scene in the first episode....that comes round and bites them ;). George doesn't portray rape or incest as a good thing in the books or series. It's seen as a sin and has consequences later on. Yes there are a lot of mature scenes but away from these scenes is a plot and story not based on this. Unlike FSOG.

To be fair, GOT isn't the only book with mature content in. Heck have you read Clan of the Cave Bears series? Some scenes in that.....yup.

At first, we weren't talking about that. Just the s-x part, because I've seen people talking badly about FSoG just because of that, when both have it.

I'm not judging GoT tho, I haven't seen it aside from the first episode. I think it's too much for me
