Plus I'm the only one who seems excited about the idea. When I bring it up at home I'm told to shut up or that I should get a decent job first....and my Nan and Gran just laugh at the idea which I find hurtful. I was excited but no I feel there's no point.
Sorry it just really hit me today and I don't want to sound selfish or bratty. It's just like I'm no longer allowed to be excited about it
My parents had a very small wedding - the only thing they really paid for was the catering and the rings - my mum borrowed her dress from a friend and my grandmother hosted the reception at her house (she used to live in a big-ish house - her house now probably would be too small) and the only guests were immediate family and my parents closest few friends - all in all about 20 people max. My aunt's friend (a freelance photographer) took a few photos as a gesture and my uncle filmed a few bits and pieces here and there. And my parents friend's father owns a classic car, which he was happy enough to lend them for the arrival/departure.
I've only been to one wedding ever, which I guess would be counted as "big" - I was bridesmaid and honestly it was a whole lot of fuss all around. The video of my parents getting married seems like it would have been much more pleasant. So in that regard, I don't get why people are so judgemental when people say they just want something small.
Damn, that does sound really hurtful
try to ignore them, Hun. In the end, the day should be about the two of you, and what any one else thinks shouldn't matter <3
