I can't help but feel this is so embarrassing, but it's not like it's compulsory to have to do something major for your 18th. I'm content with a nice family meal and doing little things with the few friends I have. Why does it feel like this isn't okay? :tired2:

That's the problem we had. Just go to a registry office hun. You'll save thousands! At the end of the day a wedding is about two people who love each other pledging to spend their lives together. You don't need to spend thousands on that. Mine and J's is going to cost £800-900. That's for a ceremony, dress, rings, suit, baby dress, buffet, flowers and hall hire for an after party. My nans doing our cake :3 doesn't have to cost thousands so don't rule it out completely ^^

I'm thinking that was the biggest and most discusting nappy disaster to date xD

Yeh I don't want anything big. I'm happy with a registry office and a BBQ in the garden after. But Gaz is low on moneys at the mo as I am. Plus I'm the only one who seems excited about the idea. When I bring it up at home I'm told to shut up or that I should get a decent job first....and my Nan and Gran just laugh at the idea which I find hurtful. I was excited but no I feel there's no point.

Sorry it just really hit me today and I don't want to sound selfish or bratty. It's just like I'm no longer allowed to be excited about it

^ Honestly? Just ignore them. Your friends are excited for you so maybe talk to them more about it? That's what I do anyway. As you know, our family situations are mega awkward and some (like Jamies sister) can't stand the fact we are getting married. But we just ignore x) It's your special day so damn right you have a right to be excited. If you save £50 a month each for ten months you'll have the funds between you :) And just invite who you want. :3

Don't think I'm doing anything special for mine. lol I don't live with my family, drinking age is 21 here, and I already graduated high school, so... nothing really special is happening for my 18th.

Plus, I already live the day-to-day life of an 18/19 year-old anyway, so I see no reason to really celebrate it. :ha: It literally doesn't mark anything. My 17th honestly was more important and I didn't do anything for that either. xD

Long story short: there's plenty of people out there who just don't do things for their birthdays. No need to feel self-conscious. You should never have to feel compelled to spend money on something fancy you don't want. :P

It's slightly concerning that I just checked the tracking service for my Amazon delivery, to find that apparently my parcel was handed to me in person half an hour ago. Considering I'm at work that would have been difficult! It better be safely outside my door when I get home tonight or with a neighbour.
