I don't know the pounds to USD conversion, but that's nothing. I've spent over $200 on a textbook before. $35 is cheap. Consider yourself lucky. :P

Haha yeah - I should since some of my flatmates have had to pay £200 as well :O Though I do have more to buy, as long as I buy one a week I should be okay financially :D

According to google £35 is about $56.30 ;)

^ You should be okay as long as you don't need any math or science or foreign language textbooks :P Those are the expensive ones.

At least, here they are.

Alright, time to get settled in my old dA account, methinks. Sort out the gallery and whatnot.

^ I do need some :/ I need to get some Spanish ones, but I think they're not so expensive as this film one.

--------------

Righto, I've bought my mood journal and stuck star stickers all over it - now to monitor my anxiety/depression levels throughout the day. Once I've set up meetings with the counsellor I'll be able to show it to them and when the time comes for me to decide whether to stay here or go home I'll be able to look back and get an honest look at whether I've been happy or not.

I hope everything will be ok :/

>education is a for-profit industry now
So not only do I have to pay for the means of acquiring that knowledge (teacher's paychecks, the material, shipping and handling for textbooks, etc), I also have to pay for the knowledge itself?

Schools and educational institutes are turning into vile, profiteering corporations.

More proof that people will do anything for money, because money is the ultimate power.

Such a cruel, capitalist world.

^ Not all countries are like that. For instance, Finland does not charge one to attend university, and I think they don't make the students buy their books.
