^ Yeah we IM a lot, we've been actually doing lots of video chats too which allows us to work on something while talking. Its actually pretty useful. I'm always ready to talk on Skype with anyone usually, but because I have the skype app on my phone it makes me look like im online even when im not.

^ Skype in general makes me anxious. Video chatting is much more terrifying (and therefore much more debilitating) than IMing, but I prefer not to do either. Especially when I need to read or work on an essay. I like to take a break and check something and go back to it for a while. It's more orderly, and quiet, and it makes sense. That damn skype noise makes it so hard to concentrate. :S

Yeah, video was awkward definitely at first. But once you try it a few times it gets easier and more comfortable so yeah, I wouldnt blame you for being scared though. Its quite difficult to start.

I've been on video with my family many times (mom was NOT about to let me go to Finland in July without Skyping with her while I was there) and it's doable with people I'm very comfortable with irl. I've been on video twice with people who weren't family members and I left the mic muted both times.

I don't know the pounds to USD conversion, but that's nothing. I've spent over $200 on a textbook before. $35 is cheap. Consider yourself lucky.
