Just bought a new PS2 off Amazon to replace my old one (I know, so vintage ) It's the slim model, instead of the original model that I'm used to.

I did a quick bit of research on some old message boards as to which one was better, and lots of people reported having to replace their "fat" PS2s three or four times before giving up and buying the slim one. And all these posts were about 6 years old...

Weird, my original PS2 will be 12 years old this Christmas, and only now is it starting to show signs of breaking-down. And it's definitely not due to lack of use... I reckon about 80% of my childhood revolved around it. So many memories.

The slims wore out more easily in my experience, we have a "fat" one now and it's lasted longer than any of our slims ever did. We had a "fat" one that a cat broke, and at least two slim ones, and now we have one of the original ones again.
