I hate when they do that =/ if that doesn't happen, I'd suggest you to post about him/her on ArtistsBeware.livejournal -- not sure if familiar with it, but it's main page explains everything x3 hope everything goes well♥.

Edit: Also when I've commissioned and waited long, I usually did ask for a WIP screen, which is best to always do, hence why I allow people to ask for a WIP if the time has been long.
