Gosh, TPAM, I wish there were more people in my high school that are like you. Like I said, we're high-ranked academically, but then it's contaminated with the 'preps', if you get what I mean, so that kinda ruins it. Plus European schools seem to place more emphasis on learning and education. Here it's like incredibly boring unless you take math courses two or three years above your grade level and sign up for a ton of advanced/honors/college-level courses. And even then, it feels lacking sometimes. It's like impossible not to graduate high school, people act like it's such an achievement and frankly I don't get it. I just wanna get out. lol

But yeah, I feel like people in America have no clue sometimes. I swear half of them have no ambition beyond having a normal boring family or working some boring desk job. Especially the people I go to school with. You talk about anything related to science or art and it's like their eyes glaze over. So why bother talking to them? If it's not new shoes or make-up or a boyfriend or football they're probably not even interested.

SO TRUE TPAM. Its like the people around me are either completely clueless or they are smart but they just want to get a paying job. THERE IS MORE TO LIFE THAN MONEY AND FRIENDS! They can't appreciate the beauty of a painting or a simple quote. They don't see the logical majesty of an equation. This base level way of viewing life I cannot understand. I've had to distance myself from these people. Do they not find emotion in a beautiful movie or a sentimental piece of music? Most of them haven't even read a book for fun. I mean come on people!

But yes, the Internet is great. So many don't understand why people like me go on the Internet a lot and it's just like... to get away from you people.

Anyway, though... yeah, TPATPAM. I get you. So many people claim to 'learn' but then they can never apply it and they always whine about 'waaaaah when are we ever going to use this I'M LEARNING NOTHING'. So it's really a pearls before swine thing. You may as well be trying to teach monkeys to drive. Personally I'd like to think it's pretty hopeless for a lot of them, but the sad thing is, though, a lot of them will probably still end up with a nice life because they're pretty and they can get a nice guy and Mommy and Daddy have connections, and... yeah. I have no tolerance for those people at all, I try to stay as far away from them as I can.

(And people wonder why I relate to Scar and feel like the people around me are idiots... ).

You guys are the smartest and coolest people I've talked too on the Internet ever. Seriously. These past two months for me have really changed my attitude on the world, after going year after year having no one with any similar interests of mine or simply not being passionate about anything at all except popularity and money. Seriously, You guys are amazing

edit: I totally agree TPAM, every time I hear someone say "when are we going to need to know this" I lose a bit of hope for my generation. Is not the knowledge itself a gift? Or does everything have to have an immediate physical payoff SMH.
