No, but seriously, same. But some folks are obviously more protective of what they share with online strangers. Since we're all rapists and pedophiles and all!

Topic Discussion? Lol.

I agree with most of the points here. The person elected should be:

1) Active

2) A leader

3) Supportive

4) Responsible

I find these traits the highest when becoming staff. Yes, most people will probably choose their friends, but this doesn't mean they shouldn't vote for them. They would probably trust their friends enough and know them thoroughly. Not exactly agreeing that they should vote for their friends, but I believe they have a right to if they wish. I cannot remember who mentioned it (I believe it was TheRoguePrince), but he/she mentioned that it should be a person who can handle something under stress. Being part of a staff is hard. I once was an Administrator of an active(ish) forum and the whole place got almost completely destroyed by a hacker. So the person should be liable to take things calmly under control and deal with the issue.

Art/Graphic moderator also might be a good position. I was on a forum that a person claimed that one of a person's graphics (I know who it is, but I won't mention either names) was theirs. Thus, this may be a good new position.

The one point I have seen made here that I disagree with is the idea the age matters. If this is the case than that would require an extreme shortening of the list. As there are few active members of any remarkable durations who are not already staff members.

I kind of agree with TRP. In fact, when I left my staff position and MLK a few months ago (and yes I want it back) KK and I chose AC to replace me. He was only a few months into his membership at the time and seems to have done ok as a mod.

Something else I would throw out is the ability to mediate. I don't want a staff member to jump into an argument with a one-sided view of things and then use their mod power to make that decision final. I want them to take a few minutes to understand each side and just what's going on, then reach a compromise with everyone involved that's fair and productive. This person has to be able to detach themselves from the arguments that so commonly crop up here and be both fair and unbiased. Staff should never (in my opinion) contribute to any argument (and obviously there's a thin line between argument and debate). They should do their best to defuse the arguments and return the topic to a civil, productive discussion. They should never escalate. That's something that to me, given the frequence of sometimes quite heated arguments on here, is perhaps the most important quality for staff to have in my opinion. Just something to keep in mind. ^^

Personally I am going to be voting for someone who has a good sense of humour and I like talking to, last thing the site needs is boring staff members who take stuff too seriously (not saying the current ones do, just that we do not need to start now either). That said they need to be able to know when to be serious and do their "job" and also active to a fairly high degree.

I really do not mind who wins; I could give at least one good reason why every nominee so far deserves to get the role (except for myself because that would be a bit self centred of me)
