Come to Greece, home of the ultra-Orthodox 'family values' patriots who also think we have a theocracy. Thankfully the only good thing that joke party we call SYRIZA did was to allow civil partnerships. It's not the best but it's a step forward.

Still can't believe the Orthodox church thought their stance on this matters, if you want a country where religion has a say in politics move to the Middle East. It's despicable just how much influence the church still has on the populace that seems to forget we're in the 21st century.

Ah yes the constitution says marriage is between a man and a woman. I'm so happy you remember a constitution that was written many many years ago, it's not like we need to move forward as a country from outdated ideas or anything. God, eastern Europe is such a fanatically religious mess.

^ You know, it's so strange, but growing up as homosexual in Scotland has left me completely speechless at the events that take place in other countries in Europe and the U.S, because I have never experienced any sort of homophobia from our government or society that could possibly come close. I have so many queer folk in my family as well as my family's friends, and almost all of my close irl friends are somewhere on the spectrum. I only recently learned that Scotland apparently has the gayest parliament in the world too. I have never known what it's like to actually have to HIDE who I am from the world around me. I couldn't even begin to imagine how trapped you must feel.

It's only when I receive the slightest bit of homophobia, and by that I mean maybe someone acting mildly uncomfortable about it, that I start to feel quite hurt. And then I remember that what I've received is so minuscule compared to what other people in other places have to go through. It hits me quite deeply then, that I have friends from other countries who could very well never be given half of their human rights, all because of how they were born.

Religion is, ultimately, a choice. Sexuality is not.

I'd very much like it if all other countries had the same attitude my own country does.

^ Yeah thankfully western Europe is a bit more accepting towards it. The east are far more conservative and religious and incredibly intolerant all LGBT+ in the present day. I know from experience that the Balkans are, and heard about Poland and Russia as well who all mistake gays for "pedophiles" and call anything that doesn't adhere to their family values a "perversion of the family unit".

Honestly, in some cases people get indoctrinated into religious fundamentalism from their parents and remain completely brainwashed by it so sometimes even that isn't a choice.
