Not petty at all! Especially if you have memories or something like that attached to it. My family gets the same way when we drive past my Grandmother's old house and see it in such disrepair, the garden all overgrown etc. It was such a lovely house when she lived in it and it's very clear that the current owners haven't been putting in the work that it needs (the garden was quite big, for example, so needed regular tending) It does make me sad, since when I was a child I spent so much time there (heck, we were living there when I was born because we were waiting to be able to move into the house we're in now) and have so many memories of the place.
I get the same way when my parents talk about moving to a different part of Belfast and leaving our home here once my sister and I are financially independent. It's only a building, I know, but this is the house I grew up in, and I honestly can't imagine living anywhere else right now
