Had you not switched to digital yet? As long as you own a video machine that still connects with your TV, then you should still be able to play videos... Having said that I have a TV-Video combination and last time I tried, I could play videos with it. So maybe it is only these kinds of TVs you can play videos on still, I'm not too sure actually. It's a pain that it means I have to have a small, square screen, but for that odd time I want to be nostalgic with a video, it's good to retain the combi.
Anyway, I'm feeling a little blergh with the start of a cold... I only hope it clears before my little trip...
