i think that the chances of us being the only life out there are slim to none... but i also understand that if there are others out there, there has to be a reason they haven't contacted us recently
sorry for bringing this up but, nothing travesty faster than the speed of light, correct? Light will travel at 300000000 m/s in a vacume (space) we can send a message on a wave, which will travel at the speed of light, to a system out there. At the speed of light, a single wave would have to travel 3779520000000000m to get to the system, they would then have to send the message back the same 3779520000000000m. Each way that's a total time of 125798400 seconds, making a minimum time of 251596800 seconds, without the time to think of a reply, and decifer our message. Now although that's only about 8 years, we didn't send a message to them some 4 lightyears away, we sent on to a galaxy over 150 light years away, so we'll be lucky to get a reply by the year 2500 if not later.
However I do believe there is life out there, at about the same tech level as us, so we won't get a reply for a long time yet.
(( my math may be slightly out )) Â Â
^ Didn't understand any of that

sorry, I fail when it comes to maths
No worries, looking back I don't know how much of that actuall makes sense.
