Gah I don't want to give the impression that I dislike dogs, I go crazy when I see one. xD I just prefer cats a tad bit more.

I've seen a stray cat drool, I guess, but her jaw was actually damaged. :\
^ lol but still, can a cat capture a criminal or save a life, or do labor, or guide a blind person? :P
Can a cat crush your bones with it's powerful jaws or rip a small child to pieces? Would a cat dig a hole and bury her young if there was something wrong with it? Probably not. Dogs can help a lot but they can be incredibly dangerous too.

I will always love cats. I have owned many pets, cats, guinea pigs, fish, hamster, rabbits and dogs. Even a bird once. But cats will always have a place in my heart. My family is full of dog people - I like dogs myself, but they irritate me sometimes when they won't leave me alone. Particularly small dogs, most of them are quite ugly and dogs in general quite dangerous if they have not been raised properly. Cats can claw at you but dogs can crush your bones easily. Not that every dog would, of course.

I would never want my cat to have been what dogs are, because was always better in my eyes. And cats always will be better. Of course it's just my opinion.

lions can crush our bones and rip a small child to pieces, because they are also cats :P and even little cats are able to injure young children and even babies. and when it comes to dogs, it's just a matter on how they got raised. my dog for instance, NEVER even growled at me or anyone else, and I could do with him whatever I wanted. cats on the other hand, are still somewhat unpredictable sometimes like wild big cats.

Cats can actually save lives, you just don't hear about it as frequently. I'm sure a Google search could prove that. I just don't care if they're useful to humanity or not, they make better companions than dogs *to me*. I guess it just depends on the person.

Also, with that "they're also cats" logic, I can say that dogs are dangerous because wolves are "dogs", too. It always depends by the way you've raised your pet regardless of their species, it's just that each species has its own needs and needs different training, and it always depends on the personality of the animal, too.

I was referring to domestic pet cats. Dogs have been domesticated for thousands of years, from wolves, yet they are still capable of immense violence and killing. As for Lions, they are of course wild animals and so it is in their blood to slaughter in such a manner. Dogs will have this instinct too somewhere from the wolves, obviously not as much but still.

Domestic cats are able to hurt children of course, but it's unlikely that the baby would be left alone with a cat and even if it was attacked it would likely survive but have quite a few nasty scratches. Countless vicious dogs have got loose and killed children without second thoughts.

I didn't say all dogs were dangerous, yours was not, and it is usually the owners fault if a dog goes bad. Lions are not exactly unpredictable, they pretty much do exactly what is expected of them. Which is why one should never take on a wild cat as a pet because they are still killing machines.

When I wrote that post I was talking about little domestic cats that can do little damage. Dogs kill on average 26 people per year, which has jumped up considerably since the 1970s. Only 4 children have been killed by captive big cats. 43 have been mauled. 4.7 % of americans are estimated to be bitten by dogs per year in the US. Not as bad as being mauled but if those dogs are pets, and the big cats are pets [but they shouldn't be of course] which is worse? 4 million is a lot of people and I'm sure that adds up.
