I think I write more like I speak now, since I'm overall pretty relaxed when I'm on MLK and I feel like I know most of the people here, so I don't worry so much that people will judge me or assume I'm unintelligent if I use a lot of slang or contractions or other silly things in my posts. Honestly, I'm a lot more lax with that than I used to be. And, of course, if you know me on Skype... that's pretty much how I talk in real life, hahaha.

But there used to actually be a very wide disparity. A friend of mine read my fanfiction.net profile and commented that I sounded like a "50 year old man" and that she was surprised because I wasn't like that at all in real life. :?

Anyway, I have to go for right now, but yeah, that was an interesting discussion. ^^

GeminiGemelo wrote:^ Well, we certainly talk quite a bit. :chuckle: lol

That's basically the only exception. I never know what to say to other people if they don't message me first, and sometimes I don't know how to start a discussion in the group either and so I just stay quiet. :P

On the more recent topic, I sometimes write how I talk. Usually on instant messengers. Sometimes just in random posts, and some of my speech pattern gets through into everything cos that's normal. But I never go into an intellectual discussion or storytelling (written or spoken) the way I usually talk. The exception being if I'm telling a story as a joke. Nobody listens to the person who says "y'all" and "ain't" in intellectual discussions, though, so I tend to drop my typical speech in favor of writing the way I think, which is to say, like someone who's been analyzing literature for the past few years.

Exactly. My speech form depends on the subject and who I'm talking to. I won't say "gonna" or "y'all" while speaking to a teacher, in a formal discussion, but I do say those while talking to my friends. :P
