That's not really true. There could be 2 surviors, and they could repopulate the planet, and rebuild everything, and then it could get destroyed again. If the sun goes though, were dead. Not only would we burn to death, but we would no longer have our natural resources.[/quote]

Which is basically what happened in the movie WALL-E, except the world went through global warming in the planet and fleed in a ship.

You wouldn't survive more then a week being the only survior on the earth. You rely on other people for food, shelter, as well as communication. Without communication you'd go crazy. So basically you'd starve to death whilst going crazy. You wouldn't even know your a survior, because you'd be way out of your mind by then.
