What's wrong with airplanes?

They're full of strangers, they're cramped and uncomfortable, I don't like trusting my life to strangers, the other passengers are rude, they charge for you to go to the restroom, the meals aren't filling, they don't heat very well, and there's nothing to do on them unless you get lucky and your headphone jack works because despite them saying you can use your laptops, there isn't the room. That's my experience. And airports suck. And no matter how great the destination is, I've found it's not worth it.

Ninja'd. And you must've flown on a different airplane service than mine. Half the time I can't even recline the seats, there's nothing to do or watch, and there's like no space. Also the food tends to be hella expensive.

Seriously? On the one I flew with, we didn't have anything to do nor watch, but that's why many people take their tablets/laptops - I did this too, had no problems. I had enough space to put bags "at my feet" if I wished to, and I'd still have free space. Hell, I could stand up on my seat. The food also wasn't very expensive. I actually paid around 7€ for a small meal and a drink.
I get surprised when people fly on big companies and say they had no space/the food was awful/etc...I flew with a low cost one and I don't have any complaints.

We could put our bags down but I feel like once you do that all your space is used up. And forget about trying to sleep, that's really hard to do... I took my laptop but half the time, like Julie said, I don't even bother taking it out because I just don't feel comfortable because there's usually a person smushed right next to me. It'd be really awkward to stand up or move around so I usually just sit there for however many hours it is, lol.

I feel like the only airline food I've ever had was like the nut mix they give you and while that is, admittedly, pretty decent, I really never shelled out any cash for anything else. It just doesn't seem worth it to me. :s

Don't get me wrong, I used to love flying on airplanes, but as I got older the novelty of it started to die away for me.

Also, GG, you mentioned sleeping. Am I the only person here who never sleeps in any trip, unless I have no other choice?

The flights I was on, the meals were included in the cost. It wasn't good though and there wasn't room for my bag at my feet. There was barely enough room to use my mp3 player (which is smaller than a phone). I flew with American Airlines and Finnair.

I was not able to sleep, even though the trip was 13 hours each way, at night, and only because there was a screen in the individual seats on the Finnair plane was I able to do anything. I watched Batman, but had trouble hearing it even at max volume.

^ Same here. Personally, I've actually thought that being a travel writer would be fun, but that would be more so for the experience of visiting foreign cultures and places.

Gosh. What an awful experience, in such a long trip. I flew with Ryanair and plan on sticking to it, if possible.
