I will never understand people who are desperate to have biological children. There are so many kids out there in need of a home. Why not adopt?

It is selfish. Why bring more children into this world when you have the chance to help someone in need and change their life completely? I just don't understand it at all =(

Simple tbh.
Would you rather raise a professional Olympic athlete (hypothetically speaking), who was your own flesh and blood, or someone else's?

I'd still be a proud parent watching my child achieve their goals in life, even if he/she wasn't my own flesh and blood and technically wasn't "mine". Knowing that I had raised that child to never give up and pursue their dreams would be enough for me. Blood has no importance to me (nor does ethnicity).

To you it does not matter, but to a lot of others it does, and therein lies the answer to your question.
Not to mention in some places (I believe China is one of them) birth of new born children is not only preferred, but encouraged.
