Kopa Theories

We all know Kopa exists. But was he killed by Zira? Or was he just hurt and ran away? I would like to know what you think. 'Cause I'm pretty much clueless.

Emm... this should be moved to the General TLK discussion topic. I think he was killed by Zira and her pride. Maybe they set an ambush together which would explain why everyone was exiled. ^^

I think Zira thought she killed him but instead he was just barely breathing and instead of going back to his pride he ran away to become stronger and then go back for revenge. but I don't truthfully know

I hate to think Kopa died! Instead my theory his Zira chased him away and had her lioness' kill him but they never did and let him go and he was too scared to come back. Like Simba

I believe that Kopa was attacked by Zira. Before she 'killed" him, she told him if he lives his parents would be dead, and he's run away. Then Zira nearly killed Kopa. Then, Simab thought Kopa was dead. The Zira was exiled XD.

I sort of agree with LilTiger on this one. Kopa might have been forced to run away, just like Simba. I wonder if he'd come back XD

I don't think Kopa existed at all in the movies, considering all characters present in TLK:6NA but not SP and vice-versa (no Outsiders in TLK:6NA, no Leo, Mega, etc. in SP). Still, I like to think that the cub at the end of TLK ("Fluffy")* was Simba's son and that he disappeared for some unexplained reason. Zira and her pride were banished since they were the followers of Scar and, in Simba's eyes, the ones most likely to have done the deed.

I also think it would be nice if Simba's son returned home as an adult after the events of SP. I've clung to this theory since my first days as a TLK fan. To me, there didn't seem to be any other way to explain away the differences between the end of TLK and the beginning of SP...


...Unless SP just shifted into an alternate universe where Simba is fat with orange-red (instead of red) eyes and Nala has azure blue eyes with dark eyelids. : )


*Speaking of him, isn't it odd that "Fluffy" has ear rims as an infant while baby Simba doesn't?

Well, I personally still believe in the theory that Kopa had been killed by Zira, which caused Simba’s greef and his overprotective attitude towards Kiara. And which btw resulted in Zira's banishment (exile).
But I am open minded towards other theories, too.

Maybe Kopa only existed in the first movie, when the creators did not even think about making a sequel. When they finally did, they had to replace Kopa with Kiara in order to keep the story going as the idea was to create a love-story where two families antagonize and the bond between the two main characters finally end this conflict. Kovu had to be male, in order to be seen as the successor of Scar (I think) and Kiara had to be a female, as a male-male relation would have led into a severe social discussion about a family movie. ^^

Personally, I believe that Kopa died in an accident while he was exploring the Pride Lands. I don’t think Zira or any other outlander had anything to do with it, especially since they were probably banished right after Simba took over the throne.

Many things could have happened to Kopa, he could have drowned, been attacked by a predator (like a snake or crocodile) or perhaps a rogue, hyena or cheetah killed him. Either way, I think Kopas death has led to Simbas extreme protectiveness over Kiara. (just listen to his speech before he allows her to leave Pride Rock.)
