The Timon & Pumbaa TV series

The Timon & Pumbaa TV series

Postby Timon4life » August 7th, 2013, 1:49 pm

Since I can't really find a thread on here about the series I thought i'd make one^^ I'd like to know everyone's opinions on the series and maybe get into some good discussions on this sort of forgotten program from the 90s :)

for those of you who have seen the series did you notice how they had a second season (I believe the season ran from 1995-1996) but the 1996 season was only run ONCE... then they started just re-running episodes from the 1995 season and never showed the second season again... WHY IS THAT? I remember a particular episode from the second season called "Timon's Time T'go" or something to that effect where Timon eats a poisonous bug and dies, but he's given another chance at life if he does good deeds or something like that... (I haven't seen this since '96 so my memory is a little foggy) I also remember an episode called "Hero X" where Timon tries to be this super hero called Hero X.

I really think there were a lot of good lessons in that series. I remember the episode where Timon tried to make Pumbaa into an elephant. that one was hillarious. I remember Timon's line "What's more important, being yourself or being popular? Right! being popular!" the overall lesson in that episode was, just be yourself.

What are some of your memories of the T&P TV series?

I used to have the video 'Around the World with Timon & Pumbaa' which had a few episodes on it. Last time I watched it I decided I was not that keen on the series really. It deviates away from TLK too much for my liking... or something.

I was a little out of the target age range when the series was out to be honest, (by the end of the summer of 1994 I was 13, so 14-15 by '96) so I really only watched it to see if the Hyenas would be in it, (because that damage was all already done already,) and more or less completely disregarded it otherwise. Eventually I just disregarded it as the hyenas weren't in episodes enough to keep me watching it for them.

I only caught & remember seeing the one episode where they were trying to steal an ostrich egg. Enjoyed it from what I remember, and since found out on the internet the hyenas made appearances on 5 eps, I just never caught any of the other ones because I wasn't the proper audience and moved on fairly quickly.

I haven't been bothered to watch it. From what little I've seen of it, it's so far removed from its source that it's not worth watching. Perhaps, if I was a bit older than 2 at the time, I may have liked it. But, in my opinion, there were a heck of a lot better cartoons back then.

I think I watched a few episodes on TV but I didn't really like it in all honesty. In fact I'm not much of a Timon and Pumbaa fan.

I'm a big fan of Timon and Pumbaa, so I can easy say I like the series. I remember watching "Around the world with Timon and Pumbaa" a lot when I was a kid.

@Cleargreenwater, We are the same age lol at first I kinda dismissed it as a kids show but I found myself always coming back to it as I developed a real liking for Timon. There were a number of episodes centered around the hyenas if I remember right ;)

I will watch a few episodes here and there, but I don't go out of my way to see them. All in all, the show can provide a few laughs, but it really isn't all that great.

I remember the show a little, and I remember it being alright. I have not watched anything from the show since it stopped showing on TV, and I don't think I ever will. It really went out of the realm of TLK story, and I really did not like that. I never was a huge Timon and Pumbaa fan, but I think that out of all the characters, they where the best choice to make a TV series.
