Relationship between Nala and Vitani

Vitani questions Nala sarcastically about Kiara.

These two lionesses are both great! In my opinion they have some similar traits like their bright blue eyes, there fur colour is quite similar, they were both adorable cubs, they're sassy, fiesty, they are both awesome and great fighters!
Do you think they knew eachother? I think there might've been some connection.
Was Vitani born in the Pridelands? I think she was, but why would Nala remember her ages later?
And how would she have known it was Vitani? I mean she certainly changed!

If Vitani was born while Scar was still ruling then Nala most likely would of seen her. I guess she just must of remembered her. I never really thought of how similar they look though...I guess it's not impossable that they might have the same father?

I always assumed Nala had previously met Vitani, probably while Scar was still ruling. Just like Aloobah said.

I hadn't considered that they both have the same father. Vitani and Nala do seem to exhibit the same fiestiness in their cubhood. You could say that's fuel you could add to the "Scar Is Nala's Father" fire. However, keep in mind that the link between Vitani and Scar is very blurry and Nala isn't of royal blood¹² so that theory is already on thin ice. Alternatively, you could say that their father was a third party person, who impregnated Sarafina and then impregnated Zira. Hmmm...that's an interesting theory. Would make a great fanfic.

I firmly believe Vitani was born in the Pride Lands, and Nala would've seen Vitani when she was an infant cub. I can only speculate that Nala remembered Vitani because Vitani and the Outsider lionesses frequently intruded into the Pride Lands, and got in the Pridelanders's way when they were hunting. Since hunting prey is so hard to do, it would have irritated Nala a bit. It sounds silly even from me to have a grudge against someone over meat, but it's a fan theory, and no one's fan theories are correct. But, it's the best of as to why they both have a thing against each other.

I don't believe they both share the same father; it's possible, but I doubt it! And, don't get me started on that theory of Nala being Vitani's mother!

As for their genetic traits, they may share the same pelt fur, but Nala gets her's from Sarafina, and Vitani's from Zira. Sarafina and Zira, as far as I'm concerned, are unrelated. As for her eyes, they are actually supposed to be green. They were that way when Nala was a cub, and I don't know why it didn't completely carry over when she matured into an adult, though a couple of shots of Nala as an adult have her with green eyes. I blame the lighting of the scene as a reason her eyes change so frequently. So, it is an obvious mistake on the TLKII artists's part to color her eyes light blue.

I've heard that theory so many times. Some people believe that Nala would be Vitani's mum because of all the similar traits that they share. And a number of people say that Nala had to give up Vitani to Scar and Zira when they were rulers... I think it a load of silly talk, but i guess it sorta makes sense. But I highly doubt that that is true! But I do think that there is some connection between the two... or at least I'd like to!!!

I actually never heard that before. I feel like I've been sitting at the little kids table. Anyway, that's all fan speculation.

True.

I think that Nala and Vitani are probably related. They must share some bloodline. But I don't know what kind of family they are. Cousins? Half sisters? Something.
