For those who believe in the "Scar Is Nala's Father" Theory

For those who believe in the "Scar Is Nala's Father" Theory

Postby Noah » December 15th, 2011, 10:36 am

I know several of you out there believe that Nala could be Scar's daughter based on the fact that he didn't kill her when he took over the Pride. Well, after browsing through a book about animals (Beat Around the Bush by Trevor Carnaby) I came across an interesting tidbit. The book says that although some lions do commit infanticide, it doesn't happen as often as you would think. Since this a relatively rare phenomena, it punches some holes in the theory. Scar being her dad is not the only reason her life was spared.

Another reason she probably isn't his daughter is that fact she only became the Queen once she married Simba. The Los Angeles Times confirmed this back in 1994 when they referred to Nala as the "future queen".
The version of John singing the romantic ballad "Can You Feel the Love Tonight"--which in the film accompanies the blossoming love between the lion Simba and his childhood pal/future queen Nala--is at No. 18 on the Billboard pop singles chart, and the soundtrack album debuted at No. 13.
Cape Cod Online reported the exact same thing eleven years later when it wrote an article on the Broadway show.
After a life on the run, Simba reunites with his childhood friend and future queen Nala (Adrienne Muller as the adult, Nadia Danielle Ross and Alexandra Nicole Waye as the cub) returns to claim his rightful place as king of Pride Rock.
This makes me think that neither Scar nor Mufasa could have been her father as she would had royal blood in her since birth. That's just my theory though. Anyway, what do you think? Is it enough to permanently put this incestuous issue to rest? Just kidding! I know some things will never die.

^Again, another interesting piece of reliable information, I must say.

I would also say that Scar can't be Nala's father because if he were, Nala's pelt fur would have been darker, but it isn't. Allow me to explain.

In The Lion King movie universe, cubs seem to inherit their pelt fur from their given father. Simba obviously received his "brownish gold" fur from Mufasa, and Kovu had to have received his pelt fur from his father, as Zira has apricot-colored fur. However, with Kiara, it's a different take as her fur is lighter tone of Simba's fur, but her fur looks closer to Smba's than Nala's. So, in conclusion, it seems male lions have the dominant genetic trait in deciding the pelt fur of their colors.

I apologize if I over-analyzed this, but I just wanted to make a point.

I never thought about fur color and genetics being a factor. I'm still not sure how dominant and recessive traits worked. I think I fell asleep when my biology teacher was lecturing on us it. It's an interesting theory and it appears to work out. Plus, it shows that Disney puts little details like that into their movies.

You and I should start a big list pointing out all the reasons Nala had a third-party parent. I just can't wrap my head around Mufasa or Scar fathering Nala. Eww! Not in my Disney!

Genetics is MUCH more complicated than that. Having dominant and recessive genes is just the basic idea; in reality, many genes react differently with others, in very complex ways.

Without precisely knowing Nala's ancestors, making any claims based on genetics is rather pointless.

Putting aside all the scientific reasons why Scar could or couldn't be Nala's father...
Has anyone heard of the Madness of King Scar?
Well it is a deleted song from the lion king but it was in the musical. The song is about Scar going crazy basically because no one has ever loved him. Then he realises that he needs a queen to gain immortality! And guess who the desired queen is *drum roll*....NALA!!! Yes that is right! :oh?: And as far as I know from society fathers don't usually want their daughters to become their mates and create babies. That would be a bit strange.
So that is why Scar cannot be Nala's father!

I'm well aware of it and that is one of the many reasons why I don't think Scar is Nala's father. I've always operated under the assumption that these people view the Broadway play as either non-canonial or not in the same universe as the movies.

Well especially considering it was going to be in movie it sort of says a lot. And it was cut for obvious reasons; its not very innocent therefore not suitable for a childrens movie.
I'm not sure about my view on the broadway show being in the same universe. But I'm pretty sure it is canon..? I've never seen it though so can't judge! But I really want to.
I think people just want Nala to be Scar's daughter! :headache: :ew:

Thank you for that information. I've never believed that Scar was her father.

I was just making an educated guess. :P

Any way, it occurred to me that if Scar was Nala's father, then, Nala would be Scar's heir since she is the King's daughter. So, it doesn't make sense for Scar to choose Kovu over Nala.

First I ever heard about this theory. But if that is the only reason people thought it then, wow lol.... somebody not being murdered means they must be their daughter? you must just be pulling theories out of no where to come up with something like that.

That being said though, I doubt the evidence you provided actually had an impact on the events of the film. It just so happens to coincidentally match what happens. Yeah they did do some research, the DVD states, but I doubt they went into that much detail.

Still, I doubt it very much though. Because that would likely made Zira her mother, which is just not true lol.
