What is YOUR view of Mufasa and Scar's youth?

What is YOUR view of Mufasa and Scar's youth?

IGNORE the Six New Adventures books even if you like/love them. Because they're not semi-canon but profit fanfiction and more importantly because I'm asking about your view, not someone else's but yours alone.

What kind of a cub do you think Scar was? How about Mufasa? What kind of a relationship do you think the brothers had? What kind of a relationship do you think they had with their parents? How did Scar get his scar? What do you think happened to their parents? And so on. (:

I personally have never thought of these things much, so I'm just pulling these from my hat now.

What kind of a cub do you think Scar was?
X I could imagine he was always a little arrogant and especially intelligent and ambitious (in a thoughtless way though) which slowly made him jealous that he didn't even get the chance to be the king unless Mufasa died. But I don't think he ever made any serious efforts to become a king before the film's times as in that before that he was patient enough to wait for his turn. Because his first line is "Life's not fair, is it? You see I, well I will never be king." He even laughed after it in a more or less accepting tone. I mean he did that even when it seemed hopless that he'd ever be king as he wasn't getting any younger. But Simba's existence combined to how the boy boasted about it to him and even had some of his uncle's views of kingship (yet was looking up to Mufasa) fomented his jealousy and anger and pushed Scar into a murder. I don't think it takes any extreme favoring or neglect from the father to make Scar generally jealous which I think he was during his cubhood. I think he may have used his cunning nature simply in means to annoy his brother or something.

What kind of a relationship do you think the brothers had?
X Evidently it couldn't have been strong from Scar's side as he was able to plan and go through with the plans to murder his brother's child and the brother himself and didn't seem to feel the slightest regret. Yet Mufasa seemed absolutely horrified and disbeliefed when he realized Scar was about to throw him off the cliff. The beginning also implies they had play fights or "play" fights a lot. Perhaps Scar felt Mufasa looked down on him because he was older and the future king even at times when Mufasa was just trying to be a responsible big brother. In the film they are so old that we can't tell if they are even from the same litter. I personally always imagined Scar was about 6-7 years old and Mufasa was 7-8 years old. And you know when you're a small child, even a year's age difference seems in the child's mind as essential as ten years would in adulthood. I think their relationship was generally ok but troubled in a sneaky way.

What kind of a relationship do you think they had with their parents?
X At least their father must have been a great one or else Mufasa couldn't have become the great father he was to Simba. That's really as far as I've ever thought of it.

How did Scar get his scar?
X As it's obviosuly from someone's claw, I'd like to think he got it in some heroic deed/event with a stranger lion from outside the pride. That he wasn't always a troublemaker or a broody/semi-evil brat but actually had many sides of which the better ones just were overshadowed by the negative as he grew older. Another view I like is that he got it as a cub of around Simba's age. I saw a fan art pic like that and it was too cute! In any case I don't think it came from any of his family member's claw as he apparently wanted to be called Scar after the event. Whatever his birth name was, I don't think it was Scar.

What do you think happened to their parents?
X I think their father died of old age. Somehow I got that type of atmosphere from the Under the Star scenes combined to how old I think Muffy was in the film. Thus of course both of their parents may have died of old age. May be boring but I think there is family drama enough for many lifetimes in the film's events!

To TPAM
That's a really interesting way about seeing how Muffy's and Scar's younger days could have been like. I wonder how that part of TLK's timeline happened before Simba was born. Also, since Scar's real name was Taka, I wonder if Mufasa ever called him by his real name before?

Two things:
1.) Who are you talking to? Who is TPAM? o.O Plus, there's only me in this topic as you're the first to reply to this.

2.) Scar's real name isn't Taka. It's a fanfiction name from the Six New Adventures fanfiction books which I in my original post up there, asked people to ignore and use their own imagination. (: Taka is not his official name.

But I'm thinking of course Mufasa called him by his real name, whatever that was, before he got his scar. Well, then again... there's a possibility that Scar wanted to be called Scar even before he got a scar because it's a cool and tough nickname. =P

EDIT:// Wait, it's The Person Above Me. Right? : D And thank you. (: I'm glad you found my thoughts interesting. ^^

Heeeey.... Is no one willing to share their OWN visions? Has the over-rated SNA fanfiction killed people's imagination? How about those of you who don't care for the SNA books, won't you share your visions on this topic?

^ I guess it's the easy way out... you don't have to imagine it, a person wrote it in a fanfiction for you. I don't care about TLK6NA. I've tried to read it, but I found it so boring... I don't know why.

So people are just lazy? Or not interested enough in The Lion King and the characters to be creative and imaginative for themselves? In either way I think it's sad.

I tried to read SNA too, but finished only the first book which was boring and didn't intrigue me into anything:
1.) Kopa is an empty shell and whatever is told about him is a copy of Simba. I love Simba to bits, but the point is a new character should offer NEW characteristics but this one doesn't.
2.) The entire concept of the first book is horribly unoriginal and lacks in imagination.
3.) They're written for kids and thus the narrating style and simplicity isn't exactly something that could fascinate me.

People PLEASE just forget about the freakin' profit fanfiction for a few minutes and give us your OWN original fanfiction vision!!! >___<

People aren't going to ignore TLK6NA,it's still a well known fiction that most of us have either read, know of or have heard of. But that's some other story, not for this topic.
As of their childhood,I'd like to say before everything that if there was to be a sequel(prequel) to TLK,that I'd mostly like it to revolve around that matter.
I think Mufasa was always trying to be a good older brother,it's very clear that he cared a lot for Scar, which is not what could have been said for Scar. I think it's just the way that whole atmosphere evolved. Mufasa was always trying to help his brother in everything, and may have gotten Scar feeling like MUfasa thought he was '''helpless'' without him. Of course Mufasa wasn't thinking that, but Scar had gotten that picture and it slowly started to annoy him. Since Mufasa was told to be king (not based on TLK6NA,just common sense) Scar felt like that was the drop that spilled the cup,he saw that he would always be below his brother and that h e wouldn't be appreciated as Mufasa would. Clearly, then he turned to the other ''side'' of life, gotten together with the hyenas etc.

There are tons of possibilities of how Scar could have gotten his scar, but I don't think Ahadi would have done that.he's his father and a wise king,he wouldn't claw his own son. It might have had something to do with Mufasa, since he wouldn't have wanted to be called like that from anyone if he didn't want the to feel some sort of grief. Maybe I'm just over analyzing his emotions... But yes,I think he got it when him and Mufasa got into some trouble with some kind of animal, doesn't matter what and that they tried to escape it,however Scar got caught up and got the wound. After that Mufasa came and helped him, then the animal got away, but Scar felt like Mufasa had left him there on his own, which was not Mufasa's intention, but he'd still have felt guilty.
That would have been one of the 'fights' that Mufasa and Scar had gotten into during their childhood.

As for the matter of how Scar was and how their parents died,I agree with what you said,so I don't have much to add to that.
