I'd call it an overly unhealthy obsession. To the point that when I've flown somewhere on business I'd pack my Kiara plush from the Disney Store in my checked luggage. And I have one of the Scar beanies (from the time SP came out) in the back window of my car. He's been there for about 12 years now. He looks pitiful being all sun faded.

And speaking of SP, I pre-ordered it and the DVD release of TLK from the Disney Store (and grossly overpaid for both of them) just so I get the "freebies".

I probably would go into withdrawal if I was to be separated from TLK or MLK, if you can be addicted to a movie/chatforum, well I am.

I like TLK because of the huge fandom and possibilities, but I'm not a die-hard fan lol.

I just thought one and two were pretty good films, I can't remember what I google but oddly enough, it was something to do with The Lion King, I think I wanted to check where on the official film rankings it was... And the first result on google was MLK so I was like "Oh that looks good, a nice community to discuss the films with." Sooo here I am :P, and on that note: I voted for the 2nd option.

I didn't pick any option in that poll.

Because I think there's a huge gap between those options and I belong in that missing group.
As in; I'm not addicted (anymore) but I'm totally a die-hard fan.

When this movie first came out on VHS in 1995 I was "dying" to own and see it and then mom bought it for me that year and I fell obsessively in love; all I thought about was TLK, I drew tons of fan art and had to have the Simba soft toy and any cool merchandize I could get my hands on. Sadly as I was only a kid I was depending on the good will of my parents and uncle. But that was enough. I got the Simba plush, I got the PC game (and played it through a hundred times), I got a CD-Rom colouring studio thing and other neat stuff, including a beautiful Simba&Nala picture in frames from my big sister which thus now holds the deepest emotional value as she's passed away. I watched the film probably every day and certainly every time my baby cousin came to visit though he was officially way too young to watch the film but he wanted to and I wanted to and his mom allowed it, so...

Years went by and the obsessive nature of the love fell off and other fandoms came into my life too, but I still watched the film and the sequel few times a year, was interested in everything TLK, also got the Playstation game when I got my PS2 console... And randomly discussed the films with people online.

Thanks to my life having been invated by numerous new fandoms too, in 2003 I might have missed out on the 10th anniversary theater release if it wasn't for my mom who notified me and even offered to pay half for the trip. The anniversary release took place only in our capital city so there I travelled with my brother, though I hate trains. And naturally it became the most expensive movie theater view ever (in my life) as we really didn't do anything else there but just went to the movies and travelled back home. Of course I pre-ordered the upcoming anniversary DVD release. And bough the TLK1½ when it was released, just to be disappointed though generally entertained.

But I became socially more active fan again only in 2008 when I started to make fan videos of it after two years of practice. And this year I started making fan art and grpahics, and returned to active online discussions and communities, and started to host the roleplay game in both Finnish and English. And I love discussing the canon and the entire movie universe in depth. And I'm determined to get the facts straight in this fandom and enlighten those who have been mislead by others who are confused or by those who are deliberately misleading.

I'm not addicted, I haven't dedicated my life to TLK and I'm not always socielly active but I've always loved TLK to bits, been interested in all things new and old on it, and am certainly a die-hard fan.

:joy:
